Outragious verizon

We put A Verizon LAND-LINE in our house Oct.08 and they added on many "extra costs" that we never asked for.
We took "Wire maintenance" off and then changed plans because the one we had wasn't suitable to our needs.
During Christmas, we made an international call and they changed us $3.28 cents a minute!, even though they have an international plan that is only .7cents a minute and $3 a month. I called to complain and they said we should have signed up for the international call plan.(Yet they gave us "stuff" we didn't sign up for!) I said don't ya think we would have if someone had told us that we would be charge $3.28 a minute! No one ever gave us their international rates and this was our first call. The total was $101.15!!!! for a 35 minute call to Europe.(I pay
4 cents with "Ooma" here in the Everett Area)
I asked him to cut THE ONE CALL in half and he refused.
We have a business acct.(Over 10 years with them) and 2 resident lines with Verizon. I'm now going to cancel the business and residential, but unfortunately we have no other phone options in Curlew that I know of.

I'm thinking about contacting "GET JESSE" to see what Verizon has to say to the news media. In these tough economic times, businesses should be more understanding and receptive.(AND I WAITED 50 MINS ON HOLD FOR THIS SUPERVISOR TOO)

In the meantime, I've found another long distance company that can provide my international and reg. long distance calls in Curlew- It is "Total Call" and they charge 4 cents a minute!!!!!
Now if I could only get away from Verizon completely - too bad cell phones don't work in our area.

I agree totally - Verizon's high long distance charges made me switch my long distance to TotalCall. It's a great alternative. I use them as my dial-1 carrier, but I think you they have a dial-around plan too. I live in the Curlew area and just wanted to mention that the cell phone service in the Curlew-Republic area is pretty good, now that Unicel has installed a new tower. So that might be an alternative for you. You don't have to have Unicel service - I know people who are using AT&T. I use T-Mobile.
