a $34k increase over 3 years isnt good enough for them? The company and the union have been hating each other nearly forever, this isnt going to change that, its only going to make it worse. THis union is doing the same as the United Steelworkers that killed the steel industry and the United Autoworkers that has the big 3 rapidly decaying. When the airplane market slows, the company wont be able to keep the pay rates up and the medical benefits will disappear just like what has been happening to the UAW. They want part of the profits but they avoid taking any risk. If they really want part of the pie then they need to tie pay raises into company performance. Otherwise they will see even more outsourcing because its way cheaper to build wings in Japan and fusilages in China and fly them in than it is to pay their overpriced wages and benefits. Boeing sold off the wichita division years ago, and wages got cut for those people by over 25%. Now you know why Boeing gave up on the tanker competition, they cant finance the tanker and pay more ridiculous wages to more people at the same time.

Glad to hear the Union is having none of the bad economy talk, continue to push full force ahead what's the worse that can happen? Oh ya the company will simply lay off workers.

Younger employees will be out of work and further damage our economy.

I am sure the union thinks all the headlines of World Wide recession are corporate greed alone.

also Boeing are losing big contracts left and right because of their building delays and now a strike!!! also airline carriers that buy boeing aiplanes are going under fastest than foreclosures in Las Vegas, only thing that going to save this great company is outsourcing their labor just like G.E. did in china!!! What'S wrong with this union did they learn anything from Their brothers of the U.W.A.

Will some one please explain to me, why Unions strike when the economy is bad? Folks who are on strike don't get paid, and they loose on both side....I am sorry, I support unions, but at least look at the economy before you take bread off of folks table. People forget folks who represent you are still getting paid. If there was a law passed that forced all who go on strike and your union to be on equal grounds bu not getting a salary then what do think will happen?

The only people who win in theevent of a strike are those on the negotiating team - the ones who continue to pocket their pay as you strive to figure out how you are going to feed your family. Without even going into the small print, the offer sounds fair. They should have accepted it. No one can afford to be out of work these days. Even a month without pay is going to break some of these employees.

Unions have no need to exist anymore. The members are dumb as dirt to think that their reps are in it for anything other than power and money. Yes, the team gets paid, while the members do not. We have labor laws to protect them from bad conditions and discrimination.

Maybe they should buy the company and deal with the the ups and downs and get paid accordingly. Workers these days seem to think that they are owed a high paying job. I'd throw them out. It was a great offer, given the times we are in now. Idiots!!! Greedy, do nothing except whine. WaWa Wah!

So the union is jealous that management and stock holders are making millions off their hard work? They should thank their lucky stars that management is risking stockholder money on new airplanes and keeping them employed. Dont they recall a few years ago, before the 787, when Boeing was overtaken by Airbus and sales had drastically dropped? They probably do since many were laid off, but management worked financing for a new plane ( and the union struck because they wanted more money again). Now they want a piece of the pie even though they took no risk?
I suggest Boeing do what they want, stop wasting management time in negotiating a few more years of production at the Long Beach plant, close it down and put everyone out of work so you can afford to give the greedy bastards in Seattle a good life. Its obvious they care only for themselves, and any mechanic making $100k a year ( not even counting overtime) will be proud that he is living the american dream, a selfish, screw everyone else american dream!
Since airlines are going bankrupt left and right, and fuel costs have reduced airline travel, its only a matter of time before the gravy train disappears as their backlog of planes to build drops to nothing and all those highly paid people get kicked out the door because its too ezpensive to keep them on and their union wont drop their pay. Its about then they will find out that Boeing cant afford to pay their luxury medical benefits any more either and they will lose those also ( its happening in the auto industry, dont unions talk to each other?)

Jealousy? No, its disgust at how they have abused the american dream of an honest days pay for an honest days work. Here they demand more pay for the same amount of work, they dont promise to work harder or smarter, or even to try to improve quality. They, in fact, are jealous of the profits made by those that risked their investments to maker these profits and are holding the company ransom to get the money. Boeing stock was over 105 near the end of last year, now its down to 62 before the strike. so they hit at the time the company is weakest, not caring if they survive, or can even pay their outrageous demands.
Its amusing that their negotiators were shouted down after they got a two day delay in the strike, seems the union did such a great job rousing their rabble as to how they "deserved" a piece of the pie that they cant see reality. Sure did look funny to see all those new trucks and cars the strikers own now, wonder for how long.
