No Charges For Man Who Caused Fatal Crash

Families of victims of a fatal accident on Interstate 5 near Federal Way said they are enraged that the Renton man responsible for the collision last fall will not be criminally charged for causing the accident.

I am surprised that Dep. Prosecutor Amy Freedheim claims she cannot charge Gary Ward with vehicular homicide even though he admits he had beer and had some marijuana in his system. She also concludes that the accident was a result of Gary Ward's "undiagnosed cancer". Why is she defending Mr. Ward? Is it because he is "a well known athletic recruitor taht should have some kind of leniancy? Didn't the fact that he had prior vehicle violations and other alcohol containers in his car at the time of the accident mean anything? She made a big deal about putting out extra DUI patrols out during the Cinco De Mayo celebration to demonstrate "zero tolerance" for drivers under the influence, yet here you have a man who admitted he was drinking, had marijuana in his system, and other open containers in his vehicle who just happended to kill two innocent persons who left families grieving. Their death was senseless and unforgiveable, and Gary Ward should be criminally tried.

Thank you Irene, well stated - Mr. Ward still has to face charges whether it be legal or with GOD!.. He knows he did wrong, I don't understand why he don't step up like a MAN and own up to what he has caused our family - he has taken our loved one from us and he can never bring my Uncle Bob back! At least pay your respect and do the time for the crime - you know the real reason you caused the accident - I don't care what your status is in the community, if you make a mistake pay for it!- My Uncle's life can't go on why should yours
