I am so with you, dude. people don't seem to understand that we aren't all stupid. I have seen so many comments about how "oh, kids are so stupid" and "they all drink and drive and get others killed." It's not our fault a few kids are stupid. I know a couple underage people, but they're smarter than people give them credit for... they don't drive. I know a lot of people, and none of them drink and drive. I glad some one finally gets that. There's people out there that are dumb, but that doesn't mean the rest of us should be punished. Thanks for getting that.

I am so glad someone finally steped up and wants to let people around 15 have a chance to get their own learners permits and finally learn how to drive! I am 13 and I certainly do not want to wait all the way up until I am 16. And like Joe said, not all teens are stupid!

I am also with you because in most states (such as Louisiana) you can get your permit at 15 and most drivers that are 15 either don't get a permit or drive safely. Now im not saying they are all safe. They do have dangerous drivers but they are rare to find. Im 15 and hope you can get the age down soon

I also think that it is unfair that in other states we could get our drivers permits at 15 and in New York it has to be different, its just unfair.I hope that you guys are successful in bringing the driving age down. Because there are some capable drivers out there.

It not the drinking and driving we are worried about, it the speeding and driving like you are in GTA.
If this goes thru, I an see auto insurance going up real fast in the NY area.

Yes i agree. People don't undertsand. ITS NOT THE AGE GROUP THAT CAUSES THE ACCIDENTS ITS THE INEXPERINCE!!!!! Therefore making a permit age lower we have younger people being more experienced making less crashes in the teen age group. Do not say teens are so immature maybe you shoudlnt keep such a leesh around them then. Giving them a permit at 14 would be a little crazy but even better. It would give kids some much needed freedom and they would learn responsibilty.

O p.s. Dont say teens dont understand it or are to stupid. Many teens i know can hold a very heated conversation with doctors, peple with masteretts in bioligy/english, and phycyastrist better then most adults.

I get exactly what you mean. I am writing a speech on lowering the age for a learners permit to 14 and six months and i am trying to prove to the school board that we are not all stupid and irresponsible, heck an extra year of maturity, responsibility, and experience behind the wheel would do alot of good for the rest of us.

i disagree i am 15 and 6 months and i would definately not want 14 year olds driving on the road next to me i would worry but not so much
but if kids these days really cant just wait 1 year for their permits what do they need it for?

Here is what i think even though im 12 i dont whant to wait another 4 years to get a drivers permit. 2 or 3 years is fine but four is way to much. So Flip or whatever your name is not all of us are stupied and are going to get in accidents so i disagree with flip! And Joe your right not everyone is stupid!!!!!!!!!!1!!!!!!!!!!

Inexperienced?? you think that when your first time driving as a 16 year old and your first year driving as a 16 year old is going to make a difference in experience? unexperienced 16 year olds are the same as unexperienced 15 year olds? it wont make a difference! Make sure you know that! no matter what when you first start you won't be experienced.

I think the age should be lowered to 14 for a permit. Because how many times do 16 year olds get in a car crash? If you get your permit at 14 you will be more experienced instead of driving for half a year.

Some kids might be ready for a lowered permit. It should be the parents decision when they get their permit.

Parents aren't responsible enough to make educational decisions for their children... what makes you think that they would make this decision any more responsibly?
The age should be moved UP, not down... 16 year olds simply aren't responsible enough to drive, no matter how badly they may yearn for independence!

I agree the age should be lowered to 15, but lowered to 14 or 13? That's a little ridiculous. If people don't have patience to get their permit then it's a little worrisome of how much patience they will have on the road.
