On behalf of the good citizens of Paris, I would like to take this moment to thank the folks responsible for this bounty. First I'd like to thank Jesus.(for real)

Special thanks goes out to the Chi-town Trib/Howie, Karl, Brenda, Cibil...... and all their friends from out of town for the additional sales tax revenue by generating all these visitors to our little town.

Also this should boost the City's sin tax revenues on the increased number of motel rooms they've rented.
I'll bet they already have reservations for july national soiree.

Thanks to you all...we do appreciate your patronage. The money will come in handy to order that 8 foot fencing, to surround the Lamar County Courthouse.

We do feel, however, that your generosity is so overwhelming, we wish to share it with other area towns and cities.

Perhaps your next cussin' contest rally could be held where it is a welcome addition to the festivities.

All sardonic humor aside (which was quite funny) the only reason our sales tax receipts are up is because of the pipeline(s) being built. Once that work is done/gone we will experience the economic decline (and reduce sales tax) that the rest of the state/nation is/are suffering. I hope our local elected officials will not increase spending based on these temporarily inflated numbers.

You are so right on the public officials overspending. They can take in 2 dollars and spend 2000 of it. Yep, I hate to see the pipeline revenue go, but it is good to get what we got. It is always better to make some, than none.

No, we won't. By that time the beer sales will have kicked in.

Daily Horoscope for December 26

Capricorn

Mercury retrograde in your sign will cause some friction between you and other people during coming weeks. Matters that have been bubbling away in the background will come to the boil, forcing you to do something about them. Try not to overreact, nor to create a crisis out of something that's really very minor. You should also keep a strong sense of fair play and pay attention to every little detail.
