Wow Stu,
Guess that Cali education failed you, Lithium is not a natural chemical but is derived from clay and brine and is found mostly in the ocean, it is very abundent word wide and a very very cheap to mine, but hard to process because of it's highly reactive and flammable, when processed.

Your contention that we are in Afghanastan because of Lithium is insane, it is for the time being much cheaper to extract from the Ocean.

I just saw where 450 Nevada National Guard Troops are being sent to Afghanistan. I though National Guard meant guarding our own state? One poor guy was on his 3rd. deployment. All so we can obtain the mineral rights to the trillions of dollars of lithium deposits in Afghanistan.

It's pretty sad that with the amount we spend on our military, we can't defeat a third world shit hole like Afghanistan after 10 years. What would we do if we had to fight China? Ofcourse we don't fight developed countries that actually have a military. LOL

Well LOWGLOW this article says that Afghanistan may well be the Saudi Arabia of Lithium. We only go to war to get access to minerals. We screwed with Iraq while N. Korea tested their A Bomb. We know that N. Korea will actually fight back if attacked. We only kick ass in places like Grenada and Panama. Anything larger takes ten or more years. Look at Vietnam, we didn't even win that one.--LOL

Stu,
No offense, but that article sounds like it came from Alex Jones and he's a nut job.

I do know a lot about lithium, not because i'm a expert, but my wife is a chemist for an alternate energy company in the mid-west and exclusivly works with this material for Hybrid Cars, and military applications, Lithium is very abundent, but is not made in nature, it must be extracted from other minerals and combined with high PH Chemicals to be processed, it is in many ways a lot like Aluminum, which is also not a natural mineral, but manufactured from other raw materials.

The material to manufacture Lithium is very to get, as easy as digging dirt in your back yard, however the prefered method of extracting the raw materials to process it is the ocean because Salt found in the clay material used is more stable and reduces the manufacturing steps.

BTW.
I can not deny that Afghanastan is very rich in Iron ore, copper and other metals, however i'm sure your well aware that China for the last 2 years has all but bought up most of the mining rights in afghanastan.

I have to disagree with you, Unions are firmly in the pockets of big Corperations and if you follow most legislation being sought by large corperations, you will find the unions support the same things, one example being Amnesty for illegals.

Unions have a very long history of being ran and corrupted by orginized crime, one has to merely look at the Kennedy senate hearings on orginized crime to know.

One also has to remember that large corperations are the bread and butter for Unions, because if large corperations did not exist, unions could not exist, this is why so many unions fully support companies that move overseas and pay poor people 25 cents and hour, because unions still get thier money, only there is more of it for thier pockets.

I also noticed in your post your from New York, I would think that you could see from how bankrupt NY is you would not be such a supporter of unions and how they treat the people they serve, for example the recent snow storm incident comes to mind.

I just posted an article. As for China buying mining rights it must be pay back for all our treasury bonds they hold. Maybe it's time to default.

Are you forgetting Stu that this was the country the USSR invaded way back when the incompetent Jimmy Carter was in charge of screwing things up.

Have you forgotten that they routinely spanked the Russians hineys for as long as the Russians were there?

The Russians were right close by so they didn't have nearly the problems with resupply and the like that we have.

The terrain over there is awful, the enemy is fighting on their home turf, and the guys we are trying to help have no concept of freedom as we know it and probably aren't very clear on what they're fighting for or why.

I'm not saying we ought not be there -- just pointing out a few reasons why the fight is dificult.

I personnaly can't fault our military in any way -- good soldiers just follow orders.

You'll remember during the campaign that Obama said that Bush was wrong to be in Iraq. Afghanistan was the "good war". Perhaps, time will tell.

At any rate this was the fight Obama wanted. If we fail, it's his failure -- not the US military's failure.

Why those cowardly rats: fighting on their home turf; using terrible terrain to their advantage. Why don't they bunch up in a parking lot and fight like men? Our side will be OK as soon as we knock out their navy; air force; merchant marine; tank corps; special forces, and helicopter gun ships.

I think you made the point I was trying to make Elrod, they don't come out in the open and stand there and wait for our guys to shoot them.

I don't believe they have much in the way of conventional armed forces for us to destroy. in fact I imagine fiquring out who the enemy is is the hardest part of this war.

But this is the war our clueless leader Obama said we ought to be waging --- but when he said that -- that was campaigning -- he was assigning blame -- he's good at that.

Now that he's won and the time forgoverning has arrived -- well -- that's not as easy as campaigning. He's not quite so good at that.

All that Hope he promised is pretty much used up -- the people are about ready to make another Change.

Let this Kentucky hillbilly suggest if you're having trouble finding the moron try looking in the mirror.

Also, Einstien, Hillbilly is one word not two.

I'm not arguing that we ought to be in Afghanistan or that we shouldn't. All I'm suggesting is that the clueless dipstick who allegedly is in charge is serving Jimmy Carter's second term.

He is however; even more incompetent the the original Jimmy Carter.

We need a regime change.

People from the progressive party know the value of the unions. We know their weaknesses but we are also aware of their strengths. Why do folks outside NV want to have right to work status. They are so poor in those states they don't have a pot to piss in yet they keep blindly voting for the same GOP who keep them poor. People in right to work states are like people in Cuba when asked if they miss having TVs and Computers. They just answer how can you miss what you never had. Too bad for those poor misguided folks. They are just happy to grovel about in the stone age.
It looks like the attacks on the unions in Wisconsin and elsewhere have backfired big time. Now they poked the bee hive and they don't like the sting they are feeling. Unions look like they are goin to come out of these attacks stronger than ever.
Thanks again for reelecting Harry.
