I heard that the IGA is closing. I stopped going because of the filth and dust on merchandise. Nothing like over paying for a can of green beans that covered with dust.

Why would you want the only grecer in town to leave? First, I've never found the store dirty at all. Ive found a few things with short lives past their date and he's expensive for most things, but red budwould be screwed w/out a grocer at all.

Who said it was closing? The person simply stated that the store was dirty and low on inventory. You Red Bud people are unreal. Learn how to spell while you are at it too.

Truthfully, IGA could use a little competition to help keep the prices down. It's ridiculous to pay those prices for so little. The produce is probably the most insane.$7 for a bunch of asparagus? Wow! Most produce doesn't last 3 days after purchasing it!

wow, so, you're blind, a nitpicker, AND an asshole. Their very first sentence AND the name of the thread include "IGA closing", but you manage to overlook all of that and still got on the thread and find ONE typographical error to put the wrong on ME. SMD, B.

Ummm no, the person simply stated they heard the store was closing before they simply stated the store was dirty and low on inventory. Might want to put boards up to protect your glass house before you throw stones.

For everyone's info, IGA is not closing! I am an employee there, so I should know. Yes, some things may be expensive. But life isn't cheap. So please, stop starting unnecessary drama and rumors that aren't true.

Higher prices? Sure. And what do you get for that? Helpful, fiendly staff, most who live and shop local. Good customized service from the meat department staff. Convenience. And an owner that will order special items for your needs if asked. Try that at WalMart/Schnucks and see what the answer is.

Can't everyone just shut the f*** up and focus on more important things! Nothing but a bunch of finger pointers and whiny little babies. Get a f****** hobbie or turn the TV off and play with your kids. F***!

you're right about that stuff, and I agree we need the place, I also agree a little real cometition would be good. The big box price for an 11oz box of cereal, 7/10s of a pound of meat to hide the high price, recently meat cut names were changed a bit to augment pricing, and produce so high we are all risking rickets, too much effort is put in to hiding high prices at a time when we can't afford to not price shop. Every business needs to turn a profit, but in red bud it seems many want to make a living off the first thing they sell. Selling volume to turn a profit works, overcharging eliminates much of the volume a business can do, and there is where outdated and dusty merchandise comes from.

IGA is just plain robbery.$5 for Oreos when you can go to Dollar General and get the exact same name brand and the exact same size bag for $2.50?? Shop local? Not a chance. I live paycheck to paycheck...I can't afford to shop local. I'd rather give the big chain stores my money than live in my car.

IGA does occasionally have good prices on their SALE items. You are correct that they are outrageous on their everyday pricing. Groceries are higher everywhere lately, but IGA really is robbing people. If you only need a jug of milk and a loaf of bread though, it's not worth the gas money to go to Sparta or Waterloo.

I think most have figured the way to shop rb; dg first for everything you can, alco for the occasional decent sale, iga for the other essentials, then moto for beer. And if you're single its as cheap to eat out as cook at home from iga.

That's a pretty good summary of what works. Friday evening before SuperBowl Sunday, so it's time to hit Moto for game supplies.
