Sometimes actions like these are a desparate cry for some kind of help that hasn't been properly addressed or satisfied. These offenders that are drug addicts and have been in rehabs for years and attended AA, in my opinion have never received the proper Psychiatric help. They are obviously hurting and can't or are not strong enough to find their way. It would be nice if there were some kind of concern about treating the origination of the problem from the get go. I understand that everyone is responsible for their actions, however I do believe in some cases intense psyciatric help is warranted rather than putting them in prison. letting them out, putting them in prison and letting them out when there may be a true mental illness involved.
