Review: Abbeville Dentistry

I went to Abbeville Dentistry in late October for an exam and thought there would be a cleaning as well. I thought it'd be great because they had a coupon for an examination for $10.00. It took the office four hours to finish with my appointment and that was without even cleaning my teeth! They did my examination and went through with a laser to find all my cavities. They told me my gums and jaw bone were deteriorating and that I have Perio C and that I need to have all these treatments for them. Thay also said that I had 14 cavities. In the end they gave me a treatment plan that would end up costing me over $3,500.
I went to a different dentist two weeks later and he did a cleaning and exam for $100.00. The appointment was over in 30 minutes and he said I have no cavities what so ever and that my gums and jaw bone are fine. All I need to do is get my teeth cleaned more often and I need to have my wisdom teeth pulled soon.
I was very disappointed in the staff at Abbeville. And why would they tell me I had so many things wrong with my oral health when all I needed was a cleaning? The coupon in the phone book they have is simply a gimmic. They give you a packet of things wrong with you so that they can get thousands of dollars out of you. Don't fall for it. Always get a second opinion.

I chose to try the new Abbeville location on 82nd and Milwauke last month. They offered a free exam and xrays for new patients. My fiancee had an appointment as well.and it took us 3.5 hours without cleanings. Our appt time was set at 1:30 and they asked us to be 15/20 minutes early...but neglected to say that they are on lunch break until 1:30.
We returned the next day for cleanings. I was told that since my gums bled a few times (due to the rough flossing between my crown and braces) that I had possible gingivitis. This was ridiculous! My fiancee also experienced bleeding but he was given a regular cleaning...perhaps due to the fact that he had.city insurance and I had private insurance. I ended up paying $114 for them to floss my teeth as part 1 of the "cleaning".
They also said that I needed a root canal due to a bacterial infection through a cracked tooth but refused to give antibiotics when the appt wouldn't be until 3weeks later. The work was appraised at over $4000 even though I have BCBS and they tried to convince me that it was nearly mandatory to purchase a $600 nightgaurd.
Overall I feel that this establishment is shady! They will try to.charge you for any and everything if they know that you have had previous dental work and therefore the money to pay for it.
I had a second opinion and not only did this.dentist think the prices were outrageous but also the diagnosis.was incorrect. Beware of Abbeville!

I went to abbyville dentistry. I thought that it would be on the up and up because a heart dr said his two daughters werwe dentists there.
Now I am going to tell you what they do. When all but one test has been run. The accounting office says they are working on trying to find aloan company for you and they will be back with the paper work. I told them I could afford only 50-70 a month.
While accounting is gone (not really she is waiting for "another" test to be run. One of the dental techs rushes in because they forgot to do this test. They use lazer light to check you for oral cancer. They call the Dr. because there are terrible dark spots in your mouth. Dr. looks like cancer. Then accounting comes in and says sign this. They tell you to go to a certain oral surgen.
