So in Branson West yesterday an infant was found in a van, the bw pd was called, and they did nothing!!! They chewed the woman's butt and let her go, that was it!!! They didn't even take a statement from my Mother who was the one who found the baby and reported it to Walmart security.

Branson West is more interested in looking for people parked in a no parking zone, They probably don't know how to handle a child abuse situation.

I called the Chief when i read this and told him about it. He was very concerned and said he would look in to it. He called me back a few minutes ago and advised that he checked with 911 and there was no call yesterday about a baby in the van at walmart. You have any more details? If you are so concerned about this, why not call the Chief, I did.

My Mother is the one who reported the child to the Walmart security, and stayed there until the police arrived. She was not even asked to fill a report out. The cheif should call Walmart.

I just called the cheif and gave him my mothers number. No one should treat their child like this and get away with it. It seems to be common nowadays, and it should not be acceptable in the days of this society.

well, the Chief called me back, Branson West PD was not even called on this. It was Walmart employee that was contacted. His department could not do anything if they were not notified. It would be nice if "local" clarified that. I do appreciate the Chief taking the time to call me back and explain it to me.

Hey outlaw, you are a very negative person. You might seek some help, lighten up, it is a beautiful day!

If there is no record of a 911 call, or no police record of it, the Cheif should call Walmart Security, and question why they are handling criminal matters by themselves. My Mother just called me and told me that she talked to the Cheif and he wanted me to recant what I said on the internet so this is what I was told. My mother left after security escorted the woman to the car, and Walmart Securtity was the one chewing the woman's butt, not the pd (I did misunderstand her on this). She was told that security would call the police and she said that there was a police car pulling in as she was leaving, but she didn't know if it was just patroling or going to the incident. So, she did stay until the police "arrived" and she did notify "security", and was not asked by anyone to fill out a report. Talk about getting ridiculed for trying to do the right thing.

Whoa, Local, I was not ridiculing you at all, just wanted to get the facts straight. Your mom did the right thing and the police should have been notified. They weren't, that does not make it you or your mom's fault. What i was saying is that you should not say the police did not do anything when they knew nothing about it.

Sorry if you took the wrong way, just wanted to get the facts out.

I just hope that through all of this that the woman knows that is not how we treat our children. If you can't take care of two or three kids, just don't have them!!!

This should prove to anyone reading that if you need help at Walmart, don't expect for them to notify proper authorities.

What if that was the babysitter with your child? You will never know!!

Concerned, what would make you think that outlaw is a negative person? Is it something that he said or what?

This is always what happens everytime that someone does not get the facts before making statements. It is always good to do your home work before writing something about another person or the police department. Not having the facts and printing something negative makes one end up with egg on their face!

Sounds like the good samaritan that was looking out for the child didn't want to get involved with how this was handled or get anyone in trouble, and claimed they didn't know anything when questioned. It doesn't sound like they didn't have the facts, it sounds like the facts may have only been disclosed to the only one willing to release them.

You should still have your facts right before accusing someone or a department of wrong doing. This board was full of that through the election. It is sad that people leave thier children unattended in a car. The police probably should have been notified.

There are too many variables here to form a reasonable opinion. The statutes that specifically apply to children left in vehicles apply only when there is injury or death of said child or another outside the vehicle.

Endangering the welfare may apply but more details would be necessary. For example the temperature inside the car, weather conditions, was the parent actually out of view of the car, and if so, for how long were they gone.

It may sound ridiculous to some, but these are elements that would have to be addressed.

I am sure the Chief is not lacking things to do. If someone has an issue that needs to be investigated, they should call the police and ask to make a report.

If your mother told you something would you not believe it? My mother has no reason to lie to me.
The difference in the older generation and us, they don't start anything. We do.

The situation did occur and fortunately the child was O.K. However, Wal-Mart policy should include the information reporting to the police.

As for calling 911, I know my mother feels that once you call them your gonna get a whole bunch of what you really didn't want.

In Gassville, Ark., several years ago.....the mother left a small child in a vehicle, supposedly just to run into a house and talk to a friend. When she came out the car was in flames, the child died. I did not follow up on the story. I do not know what happened to the mother after that sad situation. But it only takes a few minutes for a catastrophe to happen. I don't even leave a dog in a car when I leave the vehicle, why would someone even dare to leave a child???????
