I had a friend that came back from active duty in Afghanistan. He went there to interview for a position and when he left he never looked back. He said that place has youth with terrible problems and that the staff is under constant threat. He said the security is extremely lacking. He said he didn't feel safe there at all. This is coming from a recent veteran of the war over in the sand box.

I was a boy at ranch and well it was a bad place I wouldnts
Go as far as to say the staff were in danger.
I saw staff beat up boys more often. However
The security was very bad a lot of boys would run away
And steel mail or break into houses. After hearing about
These murders I think enough is enough! Time to shut it down.

NO AXE TO GRIND.IF YOU ARE MAKING REFERENCES TO WRITING IN ALL CAPS. IF NOT. I HAD AN EXCEPTIONAL WORKING RELATIONSHIP WITH THE RANCH.I HAD NO DISCIPLINARY ISSUES. I AND MY WIFE VOLUNTARILY REGIGNED AFTER A SITUATION AROSE THAT WAS BEYOND OUR ABILITY TO CONTINUE TO CONDONE. WE WENT THERE TO HELP THESE BOYS, AND WHAT WE SAW WAS NOT HELP. I TOLD THEM THE DAY I LEFT, SOMETHING BAD WOULD HAPPEN EVENTUALLY, AND NOW IT HAS. MANY GOOD PEOPLE WHO WORKED LEFT ALL AROUND THE SAME 6 MONTH PERIOD, A VERY SPECIFIC TIME AND TRANSITION OF OF POWER SO TO SPEAK. ANYWAYS, NO I AM NOT DISGRUNTLED. I AM SADDENED AND UPSET AT THE TRADGIC SENSELESS ACT OF VIOLENCE THAT OCCURRED. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.

I have to say that I've been talking with Shane ever since my cousin and husband in Lampe were murdered. believe me, he isn't a disgruntled employee and has been trying to help my family get answers. He is very supportive and left because he couldn't take what was going on there. Read.....others did as well.
getting facts would help before you judge. Thank you.

THANK YOU PAM FOR YOUR KIND WORDS OF DEFENSE. I WOULD SUGGEST THAT ANYONE WHO HAS SOME RELEVANT INFORMATION THAT MIGHT SHED SOME LIGHT INTO THE OPERATIONS OF THE RANCH, MAKE CONTACT WITH THE LOCAL AUTHORITIES. VOICE YOUR OPINIONS,HERE REGARDLESS OF WHAT THEY ARE. PLEASE TRY TO BE RESPECTFUL OF BOTH PARTIES INVOLVED, REFRAIN FROM MAKING UNFOUNDED ALLEGATIONS.

Yes, Shane Hicks is a very disgruntled employee. Heather, his wife, caused a lot of trouble at the ranch setting the boys back a long way from recovery. She was let go for her actions. She wouldn't follow the rules of the Ranch figuring she should do things her way. What happened Shane? When you left you didn't want to leave. You told the ranch staff "What am I to do, I am unequally yoked"
FYI the ranch has a 90+ sucess rate of turning boys around and all is done with love. Any comment to the contrary is total distortion.

Disgrunted employee or not. Something is not right at this place. I am volunteer for a NGO in Europe called "Domestic prisoners of Conscience". Our job is to scan the internet for news about foster families, group homes, boarding schools which leave the children in a worse position after they have left than before they arrived.

We have already reported LUC boys Ranch to Fornits Wiki which is a database covering more than 30 countries and the further investigation will be carried out by local support groups.

We are among the groups who have forced very large organizations like WWASP and Aspen Education Group to close several of their programs and we will see to that boys who have been at the ranch leaving less satisfied with their stay will be allowed to tell why they feel like they do.

The truth about this place is out there somewhere. When two boys aged that young seem to be willing to do terrible acts just to escape a place, we must look on what made them do it. Otherwise the local community will never be safe because the boys will be leaving the ranch at some point. They can be held back there forever.

Those boys didn't need to murder two people to escape. They had already escaped the compound!

The ranch didn't cause those boys to commit murder. They did it because they are bad. They were bad before being placed at the ranch. If you want to find out what caused them to do it, look at their character, or lack of it.

And since you're on another continent, mind your own damn business. We wash our own dirty laundry around here, and we don't need any foreigners poking their noses into our business.

I don't know if my last post went through I will make this short and simple I was abused by ken and his staff and it is place of horror they lie steal and manipulate they torture kids and I will gladly tell my experience and take a lie detector for all the people who can't grasp what we went through some of the things happened to staff members children as well there was a rape incident that they covered up.you know these things happened you should come forward people have died because lack of support to shut this place down and I know they have evidence on the property of abuse on film ken should have to answer police interrogation and lie detector tests because I'm willing to testify to what happened while I was there. They got u now ken just a matter of time and for all the others like me we should be allowed to help with the demolition of that place. Looking for closure.emailwillowens@gmail.c om we can stop others from being hurt.please!

Thank you Hubert and it is people like that guy who said you need to stay out of it that they have brainwashed those kids probably didn't murder because of trying to escape because there wasn't a fence in there but if someone would have shut this place down this would have never happened they will take your kid no matter how violent because of the money .

These are not allegations they are fact slept in manure to stay warm several nights there was a really good counselor there when I felt like dying he helped me but most of the people there hated me because I ran away so much which meant they had to work because then they would most like try to stop you or fight you cause they work you hard and ken doesn't have to hurt his image if you get hurt.

I ran away to get away from the constant stress of living there I would run through the woods for days to see my mom for maybe a couple of hours and go back my mom told him that I would quit running if she would be able to come visit he refused contact for months before I ever started running I'm not saying it was right but I ran every time that I wanted to see her they are smart and have been doing this for a long time so they are wise to getting around the law ken told me that the law says that they only have to give us eight hours of rest not sleep and it does not define were that would have to be so he would leave you were you were working start a timer and come back. If you don't believe me ask my mom or anyone else that was there when I was.they have no reason to lie.at the end of the day I'm going to raise my kid live my life and hope that some day I will be able to forgive them but I won't forget those people who take advantage of desperate parents looking for something to help their child and anyone who takes advantage of children who are not capable of defending there self should be embarrassed and treated the same as any other criminal. sorry I just needed to get that off my chest thank you you could honestly tell me what you think don't hold back I want feedback I just want to know if people care because of the murder or if they care because what is going on there is wrong.once again I'm sorry to those who lost love ones lets get this fixed so the people of lampe and I believe blue eye or something like that can sleep a little more peaceful

LOOKS LIKE WHAT I TOLD THOSE FOOLS AT THE RANCH, WOULD HAPPEN. TWO BOYS RUNNING OFF AND COMMITTING A DOUBLE HOMICIDE JUST A FEW MILES AWAY FROM THE RANCH...TWO PEOPLE BRUTALLY MURDERED BY TWO BOYS UNDER THE CARE AND CUSTODY OF THE RANCH...LOOKS LIKE THEY HAVE REAL GOOD SUPERVISION THERE. ANOTHER BOY RAN OFF HERE JUST A FEW DAYS AGO ? THEY KEEP ON TALKING ABOUT THIS SUCCUESS RATE...BULLSHIT 300, WHAT ABOUT ALL THEIR FAILURES WAY OVER 300 IM SURE. AS FAR AS MY WIFE HEATHER WAS CONCERNED ..WE COULDNT FOLLOW ABUSIVE CRUEL RULES, THATS THE ONLY THING WE COULDNT DO. LOCKING AN ADULT INSIDE OF A TRAILER THAT YOU PULL BEHIND A CAR FOR PUNISHMENT...I DONT THINK SO..IM GLAD SHANE L IS GONE..I HOPE THE REST OF YOU END UP GOING TO JAIL WITH THE CURRENT HOMICIDE TRIAL OF CJ AND TONY GOING ON IN STONE COUNTY RIGHT NOW. DIPSHIT EMPLOYEES MAINLY , HAVE NO BUSINESS WORKING WITH KIDS.

To JRA: Get your fucking information straight. We were not "let go" from the ranch, we simply couldn't work in such a cruel, religiously and mentally abusive environment. Damn right I had a hard time with the ranch rules! I have an educational background in kids and psychology, and Shane and I have both worked with kids of all ages and backgrounds for YEARS. With high levels of success. Part of what makes us successful is treating them like people, and offering them a level of respect and emotional support. You can discipline without fear and cruelty being the basis, something the ranch knows nothing about. As far as setting them back, that wasn't even possible. That ranch operates in a time where children are seen and not heard, and are treated like complete shit. I guarantee the admins have no background in working with kids.(Nor do they have any business working with children.) Kids are sleep deprived and working with tools, left unsupervised for hours, forced to shovel shit at all hours of the night. One boy, a cutter, had just self injured one evening, and when I took him to the ONE social worker on staff, she SCREAMED at him for inconveniencing her schedule. While I was standing right there! Yeah. They made no secret of the fact the boys emotional well-being was not their concern, and demonstrated that over and over again. Staff would purposely antagonize the boys to the point of an outburst in order to pack on HOURS of punishment.(I've seen boys rack up 30 hours for something that started out with an eye roll.) And once you start locking a young man with autism in an enclosed (totally enclosed, no windows) horse trailer as a punishment, you've crossed the fucking line. The people that run the place are insane, and claim to do everything in the name of Jesus. They wouldn't know the first thing about God's love. Everything they taught the boys was from a place of fear. The program directors believe making the boys "fear" them breeds respect. Well, I hate to tell them, but I talked to those boys, and what it breeds is their wanting to beat staff to fucking death with a hammer. They've got mental health and medical issues that go unaddressed, because the ranch does not believe in psych meds. Some kids really need them! It's all just incredibly sad. I actually addressed my concerns multiple times with admins, and they told me it was not a therapeutic program, but a work program. They never truly address the boys emotional needs. I love those kids dearly, but I should have took note before we came there. 300 boys served in 30 years? And that's just the number, not the success stories which are VERY few. Since we've left, I've become familiar with several drug users/addicts, drop outs, and kids that just can't function in the world, because of all the things they DIDN'T learn at the ranch. Should we even mention the double homicide recently committed by two boys from the ranch? The boy that's run away since? After boys commit a homicide, the ranch doesn't even notify law enforcement that yet another boy has taken off? Where was the support? Where was the supervision? Concern for safety? I am used to working with agencies that serve thousands of kids and families every year. I would never subject a child to their program. Best believe we reported their asses before we left. The place should be shut down.

Disgruntled former employees often have an axe to grind.

The bottom line is that the LUC ranch didn't cause those boys to commit murder. They did it all by themselves.
