the Cadillac evening news has a front page story of Janette's murder, 27 years later, looking for answers. Where are her family; former husband, son, daughter? & Why are they hiding out & not speaking up about finding the Murderer. unless they are hiding facts or covering up for themselves or someone else, seems like a detective would zone in on the members of Janette's family, that not only are not eager to find killer, but get upset at those who do? how many detectives have worked on this case? seems like a new prosecutor would be able to look over old cases, new eyes to something 'out of touch with current detective on case', seems like would be welcomed help. What do the business owners close by- then or now think? Now this has been put on Front Page of Local paper... there will be more 'talk' of the facts & 'hearsays' of the days that lead up to, and followed Janette's Brutal Murder, all can just Pray... that God will reveal the Truth... and after this unsolved 'ignored' murder.... then on to Burton Scott's 1979 'errored investigation, pushed aside- unsolved' murder, then maybe Mr. Sweet- where is he layin 'ignored' & don't the banks have records of who emptys bank accounts?.... how many more?

Barry Henry- from Evart, 85th ave- hit and run late at night. I heard that there was another mystery North of Reed City, about 1994/95. A man dropped off at his house, caregiver thought that someone picked him up and drove him over a road, due to where they found him & his cane- think thru a cad. dog. This is a story that i think some get confused on, comparing to Mr. Sweet, in later 70's. I heard they found Mr. Sweet's cane, and car- but no body, now after hearing of the 94/95 case with the cane, do wonder how much either was investigated.... Mr Sweet was never found, and said to have his bank account emptied. if this is same investigator, I think the people of Reed City/Osceola county- need to step up to see why investigations are not being done correctly, victims/+ survivors do need the respect of that. And Familys need the closure of cases solved, if not in a timely manner, than Now... and those that are hiding facts, after the murders- should be held accountable to their actions by Law.

I have been hunting for a killer since 1979 and will never stop despite warning phone calls. someone knows something and I will find out. Im very sure that the first step is to look into a few officials in the RC area like attorneys and DA'S from that time. Like the ones that got "busted" for drugs but never prosecuted by local police they know who they are so do I what a corrupt town RC was in that time and still might be

The city council turning down Unsolved Mysteries to come into town wouldn't surprise me at all. I have lived here most of my life. And it sickens me that this case hasn't been solved.

Unsolved Mysteries doesn't have to ask the City Council's permission to come here and do a show. It's a free country. The Council has no say in it. So, not true.

The last name of "Wilder" {not sure how it is spelled} seemes to come up allot when talking about the Sweet murder with people in the area.I heard he was dumped in a lake. I will not say the first name as it is just a rumor, or is it?

For some reason the people who want justice for their loved one who has been murdered (my case Janette Roberson, my sister), keep getting advice from others to"be careful", or "to stop seeking justice"> I'm wondering if they have ever been in our situation, and if they were how did they handle it, and if they weren't why are they even giving that kind of advice. What happened to this country anyway? What happened to helping your fellow human beings? Unfortunatly I can't really say on here what I want to to the "people" who are being spiteful and just plain mean. Hopefully you will never know what it is like to have a loved one murdered and never have it solved.

Lazyshoe, what are you talking about? Welding... "Still hunting" is discussing a murder that happened in 1979 in the Evart Area, left unsolved after mishandled investigation, and quieted by the law. Mr. Ed Sweet(age 70's)disappeared in May of 1982, north of Ashton, straight up the road, miles from his house. According to "others", he had got stuck at the end of a dead end road, "someone" found his loaded car abandoned, Law' responded searched the area, rumored' Sunk in swamp, never found. No one on this post has mentioned they were related to him, or personally known of what did happen to Mr Sweet. He was used as en example of unsolved murders, along with Janette Roberson, Burton Scott... who's families have both commented why they are still searching for Justice/Murderer, or anyone that really knows what happened. As in the Wilder name, used in reference to something found in the detroit paper insert in 81', comparing it to the "officials- of Reed city areas lack of concern/or hiding/coverup. A blended family of Rupperts/Wilders, some born to 1/2 sis/brother, there was a lot of abuse of children, who found no help from Law for protection from parents. Some of the children went to school, troubled because of home situation, but left parents and a few other sibblings home- and the house burnt, killing parents and 3 siblings in it. This was brought up by none relatives, but curious of happenings in area that get hidden, lied about, pushed aside....too much/too many left unsettled in Osceola County. If it isn't important to you for other families to search/question what happened to their kin... I sure do hope all that critize or belittle others hurt by unsolved murders, does not ever- find injustice in the world, hope all your kin/friends had better never be shortsided from the law.

so swamp witch if you are so bothered by this site then why do you bother to get on it. The public has a right to know. Janette deserves justice! Lana, janettes sister, never had the chance to know her. Sounds like enough to me. If her children dont want to envolve themselves then thats their choice... but it seems to me that if this upset you so badly and we're PIGS for what we right on this sight then what the hell are you doing on here? Seems to me that you have a guilty concience. Thats ok because no one cares for your opinion the case will be solved and if your involved (who ever is involved) then your gonna go down.

Concern - Thank You!
Her children do care what is put 'out' there concerning their mother, no they don't want to re-live this horrible tragedy all over again. They are her children and in my opinion that ranks over all over blood.
There are posts from people who genuinely care about Janette and her children, and there are posts from people who just have to add their two cents worth without thought to who this affects. Shame on you - you know who you are. Direct you energy where it is completely welcomed.
Her children are aware of this forum and it has hurt them deeply. They wish their mother's details to not be a matter of public knowledge and for her memories to be happy not dirty - do you understand that? Do all posting understand that?
Back off of their father, Janette's true love also, he wasn't her killer - those who know him - know - those who don't - oh well.

Anyone can see that there are many things very WRONG with the community.... does anyone have any suggestions on what would change it for the better? Or is it simply easier to complain?

bbb> no, and so many complaints are very old... outdated. And the art of complaining on here is bringing truths out to public, bringing the community together to discuss, and i TRUST this info and concern of everyone will be the voice that brings JUSTICE to those left neglected for years, and will be the foundation built for all new cases, murder, sex, drugs, theif. so yes, we can make Reed city and Osceola County a better, safer, honest to all, hometown again. But before much can get set in place for the beautiful peaceful community, there are many unsolved murders that need to be taken care of. If Pratt & whoever else is blocking the files, not willing to share the investigation after 30+years- to current, then Reed city is at a stand still until pratt is out of charge. Osceola County needs fresh eyes to look at the old problems, and get them settled. None of this hiding, lying, misrepresenting Law officers nor businesses. Get the criminals locked up, and if it be the law that did, or hid the evidence or killer in these many cases, then the law is the one to be locked up. You can not go forward, building a PEACEFUL place when those that are paid to keep peace, arrest, investigate... are still keeping the Peace from the family and community of the respect of loved ones lost to murder- and law sitting on truth for many years, hoping it will go away. But who is safe in this county if those that botched, hide... whatever are still representing The county? check out the murder forum!

yeah, I also agree about Reed City being a currupt and secretive town. I have a friend whos biological father is supposedly responsible for some serious stuff back in the 80's. Like a murder and she kind of felt responsible for helping with as much information as she could. Then she realized there was no way when come to find out theres cops and city council involved. How is justice suppose to be brought to Reed City when the laws are preventing it??? Reed City will not change until the old generation has passed and the new takes over! This murder was the JAnette Roberson Case.

Is the individual that lived in Bellaire a Man or Woman? And do they still live there? Do you know what the connection would be between them and Reed City or the Roberson Family?

the person is a man and i do not know if he still resides there. he was unemployed in the years i lived there. he lived with his parents and spent most of his time fishing. he was in his late 20's at that time. most people i knew then did not have to high of an opinion of him.
i know of the state police inquiry as this was told to me by a retired antrim county detective in early 1984.
