Sorry, the proper name is George Strait Team Roping Classic. He and his brother Buddy would sponsor it and compete also.

Have a Heart and leave Mr. George Strait and his family to mourn in peace. When you lose a child you will always be left with a broken heart, and now he just lost his brother. All I know is that his grandparents lived in Big Wells and his Grandmother was a school teacher for many years in Big Wells. The Strait Family are buried in the Big Wells Cemetery. He was born May 18 1952 in Poteet Texas. He was raised in Pearsall Texas. Mr John Strait, taught junior high math during the week in Pearsall. On weekeds, George and his older brother Buddy helped their father and their granparents tend cattle on the family's 2000-acre ranch in Big Wells Texas. "I AM ALSO A FAN OF MR. GEORGE STRAIT". Why don't you buy his book and it'll tell you the whole story how he was living in Jordantan and was born in poteet hospital and then moved to Pearsall as a young child..he attended Pearsall schools..I was there at the same time he was...his dada was my junior high math teacher!!!!

I heard the ONLY reason this festival exists is because he was OBLIGATED to perform there after getting caught in something illegal.

George Strait - Biography

Strait was born in Poteet, Texas and grew up in Pearsall, Texas. His father, John Strait, was a junior high school mathematics teacher. The Straits would often leave Pearsall on the weekends and the summers to work at the family's 2,000 acre (8 km²) cattle ranch outside Big Wells, Texas. When he was in fourth grade, Strait's parents divorced. His mother left the family taking his sister with her while he and his brother remained with his father. He began playing with a rock band in high school, but his preference turned to country music. Strait counts country singers Merle Haggard, George Jones, Bob Wills and Hank Williams as his early musical influences.

I guess that makes us bad people if our parents move from this town while we are young and grow up in a diferent city. when i was young i moved to serveral city. in was not our fault just went where our parents had better work and pay. we all choose what we want to listen to weather it be country, rock,latin, gospal that is why we live in this great country of ours. I have had to privilege to meet George and he was very friendly and is a person who wants to be like any one else. never did he treat us like nobody's. and I am not from Big Wells. I met him from one of his workers Moffet I believe
