I was one of the folks whose power went out last night. I was about to go to bed when the electricity came back on around 10:30P(?).
I appreciated PG&E's automated call about the power outage. Right after the call the power went off and my landline phone wouldn't work.
Thanks to the outage I was able to review where needed supplies were located. It helped me identify where my flashlights, candles, matches were and if if my battery powered radio worked. I recalled that my radio alarm wouldn't work so I tested several of my small battery powered clocks to see if they worked. It did and I heard on KCBS about the outage and that PG&E was out trying to rectify the problem.
I even discovered a radio station that had come back on again! What may have been an inconvenience to many I decided to make it a positive learning experience. I hadn't reviewed my disaster supplies and actions for awhile, such as reminding to keep the refrig. door closed. I cooked pizza in my gas oven. I realize that you should have plenty of batteries and lamps on hand. I am glad that they figured out the problem and we have our power back. I was thinking about the early settlers, before electricity, and wondered how they got my by candle. I tried reading but it was too difficult. We are so spoiled!
