It does have to do with a complete lack of understanding of science, which is the true context of this thread. Does our government trust valid scientific research or a 1700 year old book about a dude on a stick.

Sadly, if the detractors of same sex marriage would read as far as the First Amendment, they would see that the Bible is irrelevant. Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion.

Good morning Riccardo! That’s the million dollar question isn’t it? Lol! The Greek Philosopher, Plato, said, "If you would converse with me, please, first, define your terms.” On a frequent basis we attach a meaning of a word from the Bible based on our own language and culture to a word that is not the meaning of the Hebrew or Greek words behind the translation.

Let’s start with the word “sin” we’ve all heard that word so often we have all come to associate it with “bad” or “bad things”
What does ‘sin’ mean biblically? It doesn’t mean ‘bad’. It doesn’t mean ‘bad things’. Sin means, and there are two main words for it, a Hebraic word for it,‘chatta’t’ and there’s a Greek word,‘hamartia’. Hamartia and chatta’t mean, approximately, separation from God. Hamartia is an archery word. It means that you let the arrow go and you miss the mark. The arrow goes astray. Somehow all of us have taken a wrong turn, a wrong path. We’ve taken a wrong road. We’ve turned our gaze from the divine, the source of all love and become embroiled in all sorts of other ‘stuff’.

 That’s sin to me.

Sorry to ramble on, but the short answer to your question should be what Jesus meant anyways right? He never condoned the sin, but He never condemned the sinner either. His goal in dealing with them was always reconciliation. Ref John 8:1-11.

That speaks volumes at least to me about us, our own faults and how to (and not to) deal with it.

Jesus condemned sin but He did not condemn the sinner. He did not condone sin. Sin separates man from God. It is because of mankind being separated from God by sin that Jesus died on the cross. He paid for the sins of mankind by His death on the cross of Calvary. But if your parents knew you were doing something wrong and you knew they didn't like it, would you consider that it might be wrong? would you try not to do what they didn't like? But thanks for the kind exchange. I agree with you.

Let me see if I can help. Jesus is a religious figure. Congress (federal and state) is forbidden from making laws respecting an establishment of religion. Ergo, what Jesus had to say on the matter is irrelevant.

Ironically, Jesus did give a nod to the establishment of civil authority.

Render unto Caesar...

This is a civil matter, not a religious one, and even if civil same sex marriage is allowed, no church would be forced to recognize the unions, or to perform church marriage for same sex couples if the church objects with the practice.

The conversation was with Al, why do you bigots get off every time someone is talking about Jesus? Does the name of JESUS bother you? The conversation was a civil one, included thought, something you seem not to be able of.

No Jesus doesn't bother us, he is the brother of Satan. Ask your mormon candidate.

Hey Lucy did you know Jesus was a homosexual??

Except for Jesus (who hung out with 12 guys and never said anything bad about homosexuality), who said that you can increase your chances of being raptured by being gay.(So pray to be gay!)

I tell you, in that night there shall be two men in one bed; the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left. Two women shall be grinding together; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Luke 17:34-35

Say what, I don't hate Christians, shoot, Lucy I am one. Now fundies well thats a different story. As far as my wife, she is just fine, blond hair, green eyes and slim for being 50. Your blow up doll is most likely far worse off. Did you pick up the Midol that I suggested? Take a few more you are still rather bitchy. Say maybe you are going threw Mentalpause.

When last I checked, it was a public forum.
RiccardoFire wrote:

No, it is just that the highest law of the land renders it utterly irrelevant to the topic at hand.
RiccardoFire wrote:

Funny, it seems to be an irrelevant conversation addressing things that, according to the US Constitution, may not have an impact upon civil laws.

<quoted text>Hitler did mention Christianity many times in his writings. He paid Christianity a lot of lip service in Mein Kampf, and he claimed to be a Christian. But Hitler's secretary, Martin Bormann, also declared that "National Socialism [Nazism] and Christianity are irreconcilable" and Hitler didn't squawk too much about it. Similarly, Hermann Rauschning, a Hitler associate, said, "One is either a Christian or a German. You can't be both." In addition, Hitler declared Nazism the state religion and the Bible was replaced by Mein Kampf in the schools. Hitler was a neo-pagan terrorist whose conscience was not informed by Christianity, but by pseudo-scientific racist philosophies. Hitler hated the Catholic Church, made plans to kill the Pope, authorized the murder of thousands of priests and nuns, and did everything he could to suppress the influence of the Church.....JUST LIKE YOU!
Whether he remained a christian, or not, his early education was christian.
Seems he just wanted to be like the bible god, and kill anything that stood against his will.
