Monday night Burlingame City Council Meeting voted 5-0 not to save 2 or even 1, of these beautiful CA heritage protected trees. Mayor Keighran said, "We do cut down old trees," when need be. Neighbors across and down the street from these gorgeous, proven perfectly healthy trees, pleaded every which way for them. A court hearing was for 36 hrs. later, but, knowing this, too, there OK was given to the Burlingame School District who said they would be eliminated tomorrow.
Workers arrived before 7 am, the TREES WERE GONE BY 10 am. Even today the BSD attorney stood up and said "they were decayed." But, the 100 cuts across them yesterday proved once again, their PERFECTION one more time.
As our daughter Lana's letter said, "They are an old friend to me, and I will miss them if they are gone, just as one would an old friend."
