i knew that story was fishy from the get go and all those idiots who posted on the original story that said gangsters from carson and hawthorne are to blame ...like i said what gangbanger is hanging out at midnight on the strand with a skateboard.....hi five to all the peeps who knew this dude was lying

I thought that our police dept was keeping the gang members from "loitering" on the Esplanade.
Clearly after this Marine was beaten severly; our police aren't doing their jobs to protect the innocent.
Why not post either a policeman on foot or a volunteer "policeman" to keep watch on this area?
I have applauded our policemen and firemen.
However, I think on a Saturday night 11 ish pm.
That this horrible incident should have been prevented. Someone should be on watch on our beaches.
Frankly, the city should implore its' citizens to do the neighborhood watch.
That would assist the police and greatly help to protect our neighborhood. People just won't pick up the phone to report anything. Very sad!!!!

OOPS, I guess I missed the article that disproved the guys story about being beaten up.
Hopefully, I'll read about it in tomorrows newspaper.
I apologize to our police dept if in fact this man was a fraud.

this is the best i cant get enough of this story - this is a good example of why we should not always jump to conclusions and wait for the whole story to unfold.....way to go to all you people who blamed the cops for not being there stating that they were at the donut shop...this so sweet makes my teeth hurt....a gangster with a skateboard ..... thats like a brain surgeon with with a ak47

Like I said, there are white gang bangers around the beach area. They are surfers and skate boarders!!!
The fact that this guy lied about being in the Marines was a little strange, but the gang bangers who assaulted him could very well have assaulted someone else. Who ever they are, I hope they get caught and prosecuted.
Good and bad people come in all colors.

I was skeptical when he said he was deployed for 15 months in Iraq. Most Marines don't get that long of a deployment? Or if they do it is a special circumstance. Well, I hope the media has learned it's lesson from this too. Check out your sources of a story before you print it!!

Yep, something smelled odd with this story from the beginning. It just wasn't normal. First, a 5' 0" Marine? That's very, very rare. Secondly, a Marine would have a little more disciplane that this punk described as his actions during the "event" that took place on the "Esplanade" At least he came through earlier, rather than later after he could have duped good folks of $$$.
