They should take the dogs down to the border and do some REAL work keeping ILLEGALS out of the country. Hooray for the dogs!

Ah, what surprise; someone turns a totally unrelated article(?)into an immigration issue.

I love the police dogs, but I wish more cities would invest in bullet proof jackets for them. I think they deserve the same protection afforded to their two-legged partners.

The dogs are largely German shepards, which I will remind you, waited their turn in line for immigration via Ellis Island. As opposed to the porous Mexico border and the scofflaws there.

There are shepards from both eastern and western Germany. The look slightly different because of the breeding that went on when the country was split. American German shephards have a sloping back compared to their european cousins.

people can call their police station and donate for vests for the police dogs. they are trained to do a job and because they want to please their handlers they obey, some of them are killed. please donate for bullet proof vests for these animals trained to protect and serve.

Guess what? They even use little Chihuahuas too, I'm sure you want to see little green cards.

People with your mindset are hopeless, so I won't try.

Do you have any idea of cost and/or where I could go about doing this?

It's so good to see Valor back in action.

I am so happy that Valor is doing well.

What a great ending to a scary story.

Yes, the fierce Chihuahuas are often used in TJ to apprehend patrons of Donkey shows.

American dogs are bred for show..it has nothing to do with the sloping back. You received wrong information.

In some cases a vest may work for a dog. A vest can also cause problems. A suspect could grab the dog, a dog could get caught under a house or in bushes. It also does not protect the head and neck area which is usually the places exposed when apprehending a suspect. Unfortunately, a vest is more of a liability then a life saver to a dog. Sorry for having to tell you the truth.
