CARMA is a bioch wrote: Because jury folks are as crazy as people who take the buss. Think about it the diffrent mentality of a person taking a buss or driving home in there own car. No juror was going to understand Norm. Anyway it is all a mess... Very sad a waist of a advocate for people... What could have been.. And will never be What is that crack about "jury people"? I have been on juries and the panel members are very diligent about their assignment. They arent crazy. They are doing a very difficult job of determining innocence or guilt of a fellow citizen. Try it sometime.

What the differnce between Norm Ryan and elected officials! He was caught and convicted and our elected officals have been found out, yet! Did we make a mistake in not having; Mayor Norm Ryan preside over Long Beach, the way things or the way they should have been? THINK, Ladies and Gentleman are we better off now without him?

RW Crum wrote: <quoted text> AMEN. Preach on. That money went to fund police officers, Wake UP CRUM! Have you ever prepared a budget? You can prepare it from scratch, or you can keep each category at its current "services" (or call it hemmorage) level. Long Beach needs to "start over" on its budget. (1) Fund Police Fully (these guys are true public servants. (2) Fund Fire Fully (3) Fund water sparingly. At this point you will find that you have a HUGE pile of money left over. (4) Eliminate 2/3 of the remaining categories of funding. Stop giving money away to charities and arts groups. (5) CAP civilian salaries at $100k (5) SPARINGLY apportion minimum funds to the 1/3 remaining categories. THAT'S HOW BUDGETING SHOULD BE DONE!!!!!

Observer wrote: <quoted text> The Utility Tax is not tied directly to funding police. LB's budget problems are a result of the City Council over spending and not living within its means. The anti business attitude on the City Council is at the heart of the issue. We drive the high sales tax producing businesses like Home Depot, Costco and auto dealers to other cities and then LB suffers. Signal Hill have the budget problems LB does? Tax payers of all stripes want all governments - city, county, state and federal to start living within their means. Well, no, you're wrong about the primary function of the utility tax but all that's water under the bridge now. I knew the anti-tax sentiment would spew forth here, and I wasn't disappointed.

You must be the lonely one becaus you're always drinking the kool aid and then spouting off about left wing agenda items you actually know nothing about. I am always amassed at Mr. Crums' ability to defy logic, common sense, and ignore facts in support of the Leftist Cabal. Someone has to prefer constant failure to success in order to vote for the Left Wing Nutjobs who have decismated our City's finances and ended any hope for a bright future for our State.

Sorry......"amazed". I wouldn't want you to confuse me with a poor Calif child who was deprived a decent education in order to entice illegals to infest our schools thus rendering them useless.

As someone who has dealings with not just this city but with many cities and counties, I can say with a fair degree of certainty that what amazes many people in and out of government is that people like you inhabit this world, Ms. Lusk, what with your paranoid repetitive postings. You might not like much of what Crum says here and in other places, but more often than not, Crum is correct with what he posts. I think he sometimes has a tendency to generalize, but when reporting on the inner workings of Long Beach, he seems to have his finger on the pulse of what's going on. That people like you don't like that is really your problem to deal with.

You must have an idea of the high esteem the majority of citizens have regarding the job being done by Gov't in running things. Maybe you don't believe in change or refuse to read the writing on the wall?
