What's going on with the hopsital? They laid off workers and are they going to close? I heard they are cutting cost by doing away with health insurance and laid off about 20 workers.

Sounds like they need to look into the management of finances and those who are "in control".

I am amazed. I see posts of various different topics on this forum, but yet people of Latimer county doesn't seem to care or doesn't want to care that their health care, such as it is, is going down the tubes from simple mismanagement. People are out of jobs, which are few and far between or salaries are cut, making it impossible for people to draw unemployment, thus having them live on a shoe string. It's a pity that there is not enough concern to even investigate those that caused this situation to occur. Economy is one thing..mismanagement is another..People, open your eyes to what is going on around you. I am amazed.

Well if they had not wasted $400,000 buying the old CCC building to open another skilled facility (when everyone knows that building should have been condemned) then they might have had money to operate and keep people employed.

That sounds like a "sound" business decision. I am sure there are some more sound investments that have been made that people don't know about. This is supposed to be a Trust organization with taxpayer money going into the hospital to keep it open. Can anyone say "Grand Jury"? Someone needs to look into it. People need to know where their money is going to!

I'm guessing that you haven't figured out that 90% of the people in this damn county are either idiots or just don't care. Our county has been mismanaged for years and nobody seems to pay any attention. The county government is being ran by a bunch of crooks and they keep getting elected. Dennis Deela, Roy Alford, and John Medders have been stealing our money for years.

Concerned, I'm glad to see that someone finally has enough guts to speak out. If I remember correctly, we still have a voice and the right and responsibility to correct corruption. A voice needs to be heard, followed by action! Any takers? What have the people got to lose? Their livelihood is being taken right out from under their noses.

I've done some research and found that our county's elected officials have managed to legally line their own pockets. State law provides a minimum and maximum wage that they can pay themselves. Guess what????? They have been paying themselves the near maximum. Does that surprise anyone? Instead of cutting the wages and health insurance for the worker bees why don't they stop lining their own pockets? Probably because they are all close to retirement and are unwilling to sacrifice a little in order to help the citizens.

Remember that the commissioners aren't the only elected officials here in this county. Carolyn Taylor, melody littlejohn, and Jesse James are all elected as well and have voices when it comes to spending county dollars. There are others but I can't remember their names.

I am sure that if you talk to any of our elected officials about this they will say they aren't at fault and quickly point the finger at someone else. The fact is that they are elected in part to manage our tax dollars. Any fool can see through what they are doing.

It's a shame that the people of latimer county have turned a blind eye to such reckless wasting of money for so many years and it has now put our healthcare at risk.

For years the same group of clowns have ran our county. When one retires they manage to replace them with someone in their circle. It's time for the people of the county to pick our own leaders. Why can't anyone that actually cares run for office.

One great example of the circle of clowns: Dennis Deela knocked up a minor child who has his baby but the citizens of latimer county still elected him. When it came time for his next election he hired many people with promises of job security and got reelected. Shortly after the election he laid most of them off. Shortly thereafter, all county employees lost their health insurance. Could it be that Denise's fleet of pre-election employees caused the insurance funds to run dry???? I'm thinking so!!! They manage to keep stuff like this away from the public and the papers won't report on it.

Our local newspapers only want to post pictures of our elected officials shaking hands and kissing babies. Why don't they report on the wasteful spending?

Or the salary that they paid for an administrator for the skilled facility and it wasn't even open yet. That should add up to a pretty good chunk of change that would have kept an NA on for a year, I'm sure.

Concerned, Did you get a chance to read the last audits for the County and for the Hospital? It's very enlightening where they seem to do just what they want to with out any sort of consequence. I am shocked that the hospital is given the county tax money direct instead of having to go through the proper procedure through the county clerk. But then, there was a lot of things wrong in both the county and the hospital. I agree that it is the "good ol' boys" running the show, who hire their families (can you say nepotism) and/or are replaced by their families. I think this would be a good television investigative report.

I think it's really sad that our elected officials have managed to nearly max out their wages while at the same time cut the workers to nearly minimum wages. They will start budgeting in the next couple of months. Maybe the pressure needs to be put on for them to cut their own wages.

Another thing that should be noted. The commissioner manage to funnel county tax dollars into their own districts while getting state tax dollars. Why not use the state tax dollars for roads and bridges and leave the county tax dollars for the hospital?

It's bad when Deela has certain people he takes care of and they do certain things for him as well. Him and the Jeffery guy run the county along with alford. I think Jeffery is running the hosital now because the last administrator screwed everything up. The one before that stole money but it wasn't reported.

The hospital's current financial situation is the result of the last hospital/home health administrator's committing Medicare fraud at the home health. This has been documented and now the county is having to pay back $2.6 million. The hospital board continues to cover for her and has decided that cutting staff, cancelling health insurance, and stopping their contribution to loyal employee's retirement as a way to make up the financial difference. The banks won't loan them any money because Medicare will have first crack at the properties if the hospital defaults on any loans they might receive. The current hospital administrator and board are hoping to use the potential income from a tax designated for the county hospital as collateral to bail the hospital out of the situation that they got us into. Its kind of hard to want to vote for the tax if the same people are going to be making the decisions on how to use the monies.

From what I have seen the biggest problem is the hospital board they repeat the same mistakes.
