From what i have been told is that it was a bust for Marijuana. My question is when are the police ever going to do something about the real drugs? Leflore county is full of needle junkies! Thats who needs to be getting arrested! I am sure that this was just a way for Leflore County officers to be in the limelight for a while considering they cannot even solve murders in this county! Way to go officers yall sure solved a big one this time! Not!

It was for marijuana, from what I understood it was handled by the Talihina police department, while the Leflore county sheriffs department was on another call(possible shooting) on holsom valley road. Or did I hear wrong?

What else were they looking for when they did the raid? How did the police force not follow protocol on the arrest at the body shop?

They were there for something else, meaning they did not have a warrant, and while it is true they do not have to have a warrent to search your car if they have reasonable suspician, it does not work the same way for a business or a home. They could have confiscated the "bong" and search whoever was holding it, but they should not have searched the building, unless permission was given, or warrent was obtained.

Maybe the Talihina Police did not follow protocal--although I don't know that they didn't--but hey they made a drug bust! Good job. As far as I was aware, marijuana is still an illegal drug and marijuana smokers are still druggies.(whether they admit it or not) Whatever Talihina police officers are guilty of, they did something positive here. Way to go.

I don't understand how someone that chooses to take part in something that they know is illegal gets so upset over getting caught and arrested. I have known plenty of pot smokers in my life. Most of them realized that the possibility of getting caught, arrested & jailed was a choice they were making and they were willing to take that chance for something they liked doing, regardless of it being illegal. So it seems kind of ironic that the cops are blamed when all you need to do is look in the mirror. That is the only person that is responsible for their actions and consequences.

Druggies?

So, there is no difference in an alocoholic and someone who likes to have a beer or a margarita now and then?

This is not necessarily a positive thing. Oklahoma will probably be the last state to recognize that marijuana should be legal, and taxed. Other states have already come to that conclusion, with more to follow. It is not for anyone but me to decide what I do with my mind and body. So, all you do-gooders who think it should be kept a "dirty little secret" need to learn to mind your own business. Furthermore, if you have never smoked pot.. you have nothing to base your "beliefs" on. You have no idea what you are talking about.
STOP TRYING TO TELL OTHER PEOPLE HOW THEY SHOULD LIVE THEIR LIVES, ITS NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS.

And for those of you who say, well it is my business when they are driving around in vehicles.. SHUT UP. These people were not caught on the highway. THey were not driving, so that whole thought does not apply.

I agree with "think". What you do in the privacy of your home is your business. Smoking pot does not make you a "druggie". What are you if you continually bash people on this forum? Do you go to church on Sunday and rip people apart on Monday? I believe that would make you a hypocrite! I try to make it a practice not to condemn people. Life is much better that way.

Walt and the county deputys were lookin for two suspects, walt said he knew were some ppl hang out(even tho the suspects had never been to this business or been seen ther by WALT))He decides to start peepin in the window and while he was committin this illegal act, he saw a bong. then diverted the search for the suspects into his personal vendetta with pot. SO, walt broke the law to enforce it,I dont think he shud have that kind of power. You cant just go around peakin in windows. No matter what your lookin for. His mind shud have been on the two suspects he was lookin for,not a way to further his career. Ask walt if he ever hung out at curlys and acted like they were friends, THATS CUZ WALT IS A SNAKE

Marijuana is illegal because the government is too money grubbing and cant tax it. Marijuana does no harm to you. There are many places where it is legal. Ive done my research on it and know enough to disagree with you. Hell it is used for a painkiller in cancer patients and is not even addicting. You tell me how it is a drug! Just because it is considered illegal? It is a plant that grows in the ground and has no added chamicals as all the "DRUGS" out in the world today. I have never even smoked it but i know enough to know that you my friend are very mistaken.

first of all, in the poteau daily newspaper is an interview with Bruce Curnutt which the fort smith article is more wrong, it states that "deputies looked inside the business", when walt clearly stated he came by and looked through the window first hand.(first lie) second, Curnutt said "Keith met with authorities at the door and gave them permission to search inside", when actually they walked straight in with no warrant. third, Curnutt said "those inside the business were sitting around a wire spool, smoking from a large bong" when only 2 out of 5 indivisuals were sitting at the spool with no one smoking, when it comes to that they just saw the bong, that you can buy at any head shop that made them decide to walk in, "from 3 people he located bagged marijuana, ready for purchase", according to Curnutt, when actually he found 1 person with 1 bag so first of all it wasnt ready for purchase and all 3 are being charged with possession and paraphernalia, it also states "Canine officer Detective Jason Wallace and his canine, Anora, searched the business and located approximately 3.5 pounds of marijuana, some of which was already bagged and ready to be sold. Authorities also located a 45 caliber semi-automatic handgun, a double-barreled shotgun, numerous knives, three bongs, four small boxes of zip-lock bags used to pack marijuana, and expensive digital scales", yes the detective did search the place but after James showed the officers where everything was, the canine didnt locate a thing. the shotgun was in a vehicle they didnt have a warrant to search, and i think the majority of people in Talihina own guns or knives, and the expensive digital scales were paint scales in the paint room on top of paint. So when it all comes down to it i think everything that happend after walt looked through the window should be dropped because i know for fact that the majority of Talihina's city officers have a past with drugs whether it was pot or not, the police do not deserve to have this kind of control over people because the way i look at it Walt is just trying to get noticed because his career and car is the only thing he has, but i gaurentee he can not be trusted, you ruined yourself Walt and all you are is a snake.

yeah , the sw times article did not make any sense. Even for someone who has no idea, its sounds a little made up.

But I do have to say, if you are doing something illegal, and you know that it is illegal, regardless of how you feel politically, its probably not a good idea to do that illegal activity in the middle, and I mean in the middle, of a small town with less than 2000 people. There is a chance that this whole bust could have gone down, legally. As it stands I don't see how charges won't be dropped.

Unless this was a warning. Look, the truth is, as officers of the law, they cannot ignore it when it is so blatently done. Having this activity going on in the location it was going on, is a little arrogant of those involved.

evidently alot of u are terribly uninformed, In the circumstances that led to the bust,The officers were in search of some possible murder suspects, and for officer safety u all can judge and contrary to what everyone here is savvy on, it is within the law to reconoiter the premises,Which means in laymans terms u have the right to look into an open window and it was a place of business not a private residence and he was open and the door was open,And possession of paraphenila is a jailable crime, everybody watches to much TV..
