1 Like ex-Sen. Larry Craig, dopehead Rush, racist Trent Lott, crybaby Glenn Beck, hypocrite Stan Saylor.... |

Isn't this genius connected with the guy in Red Lion who has been rennovating the old buildings, like changing the old Happy Hour Bar into the "Ice Cream House", which does NO business. And the old office building that Stan Saylor now operates out of (Stan is the ONLY tenant so far after 1-2 years). And the old post office, which is supposedly being converted into a another restaurant that is not needed.....
You gotta love these genius's who dream this crap up- just what we need in government.... |

He has no chance.

The 19th is big. Few outside of Red Lion will care about a no-name from Red Lion...

1 Yeah just what we need as leaders...people who take pride in their community and invest their money, time and energy in it. Yeah you are so right...that stuff is overrated anyway. We'd be better off sticking our heads in the ground and returning to the stone ages! Who needs restaurants or businesses anyway? They don't create jobs or pay taxes do they? |
||||

I agree - he has no chance.

1 I am hopeful one day we can all have civil conversations even when we disagree without all the name calling & demonizing... Why can't people be judged on there merits. |
||||
You want a rep who is not looking to be decisive? What???? Reps have to be decisive every day. Making decisions, that's what the job entails. As for civil conversations, lack of name calling and lack of demonizing - well that is exactly what Platts exemplifies in his campaigns and his work. Let's see if Sanders keeps up the "civility" line when the campaign starts. Doubtless he'll give in to his handlers and get down and dirty, ugly, and negative just as previous candidate Professor Avillo did in the last two elections. |
||||
You missed the point genius... |
||||
I meant divisive and demonizing. Thanks for bringing that to my attention. Decisive is what we need...divisive is what we can do with out... Thanks. |

2 Oh ok well thanks for pointing that out. What point are you alluding to? Your "argument" would carry a lot more wait if you actually made it. I will assume in lieu of your ability to articulate that you think it's better to do nothing and let your community crumble? Yeah that's a great point. Have at it. |

in this case are you sure we're not looking at one who couldn't make it as a taxpayer , but is now looking to ride on the backs of taxpayers ? if you can't help pull the wagon , get in and ride !!! |

Wow, sounds like someone has sour grapes because they replaced a bar, which I would not take my grandchildren to, with an ice cream shop that I would? If that was Mr. Sanders I want to know more about him. Nothing quite so bitter as a redneck Republican who has had his beer and buddy hangout replaced by a place his children might enjoy. |

1 If you love your country, your state and District 19 I suggest you keep an open mind about voting across party lines. I've voted for both Democrats and Republicans in my effort to find the best candidate. It's as easy as using the free will God gave us and not worrying about what the neighbors are going to think. Talk about putting their nose in my business, my neighbors are as guilty as the government. If you want to see politics and government change for the better, I suggest you use some common sense and see what Mr. Sanders is all about before you ridicule and dismiss him out of hand. If we, the people take over, we can change government. We gave up our duty as citizens, and the maggots are taking advantage. |
||||
Wow, that is funny because every time that I drive by there, there are NO cars in the lot. Everybody seems to miss the point here- if nobody patronizes the business, then it is not a successful business. Sure, you may think it is better just because it replaced a bar, but in reality, it's just another empty building that isn't really generating any real taxes for the community base. Do we really need that type of mentality in congress? We have enough unqualified people serving in congress already- look at Stan Saylor..... |
||||
I agree with this- "If we, the people take over, we can change government. We gave up our duty as citizens, and the maggots are taking advantage." The biggest maggots were Bush and Cheney..... |
||||
Oh I see so you're an expert on business and you can tell that a business is doing well because it has cars in front of it? I didn't realize that cars were such an important indicator of business...especially in a town where people can, and do, walk to the shop. Oh and I can see you are a true genius BEK...you somehow think that a small business that owns a property and has invested tens of thousands of dollars in it isn't paying property tax? Really? Are you really that stupid? Not only do small businesses and renovations increase sales tax revenue they also increase property values...both of which benefit the municipalities through more grants and higher direct tax revenues. More to the point... you're clearly unable to comprehend how taxes actually work. Whether a building is empty or full the owner still has to pay property taxes. The government seizes and sells any property from owners who don't pay. However someone who increases the value of the property and sets up a business is paying double taxes because they pay consumption taxes as well as property tax! I hope you don't serve in any capacity that is important...no you'd probably be fired for incompetence if you were. |
