We dont use lures, we just wait till they close the red bluff diversion dam gates and smash them, I've seen to many smashed sturgeon south of Red Bluff only thing I can think of to smash a sturgeon is the divirsion dam gates.

I have lived here for over 20 years and have yet to hear of someone sturgeon fish. We very seldom even hear of them washing up dead. Now in the Delta, well that is a whole diff. story. We always fished for Sturgeon there.

Probably because you dont spend that much time on the river. There are plenty of people that fish for sturgeon. And some do pretty well. Most folks use some type of bait, not lures. I don't really know what type of lures they will outlaw.
And smashed sturgeon? From the Dam? Are you sniffing glue? The only Sturgeon that wash up on Shore either die from old age or are exhausted from someone catching them and probably not carefully handling them because of the slot limit.
Your 20 years of living here must have been spent in a cubicle.Sturgeon in the Delta and Ocean Spawn in a freshwater Rivers(Sacramento, Feather, Yuba, American Rivers). Idiot.... This is coming from a full time fishing guide.

Never sniffed glue, but have seen, and have witnesses while fishing on a boat from below the diversion dam to woodson bridge on almost everyday in the summertime I have seen three last year with the center of there bodys smashed flat. I was only saying I thought it was the dam, cause I don't know of anything that could smash a sturgeon of that size.

Wow, what a nice person. Why would you attack me for the simple fact that I have not seen a sturgeon caught in these waters? How does this make me an idiot????? Just wondering. The next time you jump someone check more closely who you are replying to. When did I say ANYTHING about smashed fish of ANY sort????? Wow. What an anger problem you have. Would you mind telling me the name of your guide service so I can avoid it? Wouldn't want to be on the river with you when someone angered you or had a differing opinion...... Could just get dangerous.....

I can't disagree with protecting the fish. This also includes the water and spawning grounds.

They are a great fighting fish and taste great too!

I use the same rig ( Bait ) for sturgeon and striper. They going to stop us using any sort of bait in the river and just use spinners?

Until officials decide what will be done about the Sturgeon you might want to know about a little give-away presented by Cal Boating’s Safety Team. Win yourself a new 16 ft Tracker Pro fishing boat that comes with a trolling motor and GPS fish finder. Visit http://bit.ly/3yJNB7 for details.

Clarity helps when you're responding. Since you were quoting Hmmmmmm, the assumption would be that's who your remarks are addressed to. If part of your response was to someone else, you should have indicated that......You may want us to be mindreaders out here, but it just doesn't work that way.:)
