You got your name right. You are so clueless it is sad. I hate when people respond with terms such as footsoldiers, drug dealing cartels, international gun cartels, etc. Get yourself a girlfriend or a boyfreind and get out of the basement or attic from which you you spew such nonsense.
I'm going to hate myself for this, but I have to agree with Storm. Wake up was either being completely sarcastic or being a complete and total jackass. My bet is the second of the two.

Exactly how many of you have studied and talked with local, national and international gang and DTO members for over 20 years?

Do you or can you read the Federal Government's reports posted on the net regarding drugs and gangs?

Do you read and remember the newspaper accounts of the past drug raids? Murders/shootings?

Had the time to reread Wake Up's posts and nowhere did Wake Up indicate fear you so sarcastically described but then you also said you were not rude.

How much exactly is wagered on that "bet" or is it all rhetoric/bs?

Finally, keep doing things the way you've been at RSD and Reading and you will get the same results.

It is not my job nor is it Wake Up's job to teach anyone anything.

Remembering the 60s, getting PO'D about a suspension and establishing more programs will not solve the underlying problems. Remain in the dark...that's probably easier for you than facing the truth.

If it's easier for you to accept, just assume the stork is bringing all of the drugs and guns to Reading and Berks County.

Obviously the three of you can solve the problems in the city and schools.

Can't post anymore here with your IQs....too boring. Once people know it all...they cannot be told the truth.

Good luck with that...And you are three more perfect examples of why things remain as is........
and never change.

Fine, move on. You think you know everything so it would be best for you to get a job at the school and solve all the problems. People like you and your idiotic talk are the reason we are in this situation. You are guessing all of the bad kids at the school are drug dealing gang members. That's just not true.

Do I know it all? Heck no. Do I know exactly how to solve the problem? No, I certainly do not. Can I comment on possible changes or the current problems? Sure, it's what this forum is for. You or anyone else are not going to change the world or this problem just by talking about it here.

The real issue here is getting the Parents, Teachers and staff on board to solve the problem. What is the solution? I have no idea, but if they all get together I am sure something can be done. My guess is that since most of these kids are out of control, the parents are also out of control or have lost control.

I heard about a school district that provides coverage for any vandalism done to an employees car which would include principal and teachers. This is sad. I am sure this provision has been provided because the teachers and prinicpal are doing their job of enforcing the rules and regulations. It gets back to what I said in an earlier post. If kids didn't follow the rules of the road just as they do not follow the rules of the school, many of us would be seriously injured or worse. When they come to a stoplight, I guess they can decide if they want to stop or ignore the rules as they do in school. One disregard for the rules means problems for the teachers and administrators, and the other disregard for the rules on the road could mean serious injury or worse but not to the teacher or principal but to any innocent driver approaching an intersection.

Students make choices that have consequences and unless they have severe mental issues, they know that they are responsible for their behavior and their decision to follow rules. Teachers are there to teach and students are there to learn. It is that simple.

"Court" in the schools will deal with minor offenses and won't have the power to send kids to juvenile detention. District courts deal with summary offenses like truancy and disorderly conduct. It will result in fines being doled out to people with no money to pay them, or community service that won't be enforced. It will be a giant waste of time and tax dollars.
Doing something to make the masses "feel" safer is not the answer. Bad kids won't fear the court any more than they fear the police, teachers, parents, or God.
Good point. I guess I can't relate to this, I'm not from Reading or have never been there. I just can't imagine being a kid and trying to learn and grow with all this nonsense going on. What is the answer? They added more police to the school and eliminated some police positions off the street because of their budget. Does that make sense?

I'm all for helping those who genuinely need it, but our system (welfare, etc.) is just not working. How can young healthy people get HUD? I don't want this to turn into a race discussion, because all people are doing it. I swear I could film the windows open during the winter, the harassment from certain tenants, the disrespect for neighbors, the fowl disgusting music and language,etc.- I would upload it on YOUTUBE and call it "Your tax dollars at work!" I live in a nice neighborhood with an apartment complex bordering our back yard. Once it went HUD- it turned into a living nightmare by the few who feel we owe them their life. In Reading, it's a "concentrated" problem. That's why people get so angry. One big "dirty" snowball effect.

I fully agree.

Once I heard a true city story

Young single mother of 1 infant appplied for help
part time worker and in high school

She was given a choice of 2 county apartments, not in the city

In nice complexes in suburban Berks

Braggingly said: All she had to pay was $5.00 a month for rent

All utilities, water, heat, electricity...paid for her

Also got food stamps and other financial assistance, free health care

Schools must follow state laws and 3 stikes is not an option.
And when parents set rules, they should stick to them...that's assuming they had any rules at all.
Regardng teachers...ever try to teach 25 teens, some with weapons, gang members, all with attitudes?
VPs generally blame the teachers for the students' behavior.....
horrible. Teachers must now be responsible for gang behaviors.
Oh, well...it is a whole different world, isn't it?
We have a "Student Code of Conduct" in our district. It has been in effect for at least 10 yrs. It's a "booklet" with a set of "rules" that is given to all students/parents. Even elementary school age kids get one. This comes with a form that the student and parents must sign. Everything is spelled out in plain English. What they are allowed to do and what the consequences of "bad choices" will bring. Each infraction has it's punishment. It pretty much covers everything from dress code to smoking, drugs, fights, etc.

It seems that this has been effective since it was started. There was/is gang members in 2 of our high schools, but the problem is not so concentrated as in Reading.(We have 1 police officer in one high school and 2 in the other) If you teach a child from an early age that bad choices bring bad consequences- it does work. This code of conduct seemed to address unacceptable behavior on behalf of all students, teachers, etc. It also reinforced discipline that was not addressed at home. It just seems to me that the Superintendent, principals, and admin. must put their foot down and implement a long-range program like this for the future of Reading High. It won't cost the taxpayers anything and it does work.

1 ANOTHER VEILED THREAT BY AN IGNORANT ANONYMOUS LATINO BULLY. WHY WOULD THIS POSTER WANT TO EVEN TALK FACE TO FACE WITH LATINOS? WITH THEIR THREATS, MURDERS, RAPES, AIDS, COKE, CRACK, GUNS, MACHETES, KNIVES, GANGS, ETC.

SIMPLY BECAUSE LATINOS ARE EXTREMELY VIOLENT AND THEY ENJOY HURTING PEOPLE WHO TELL THE TRUTH, DOESN'T MEAN THAT POSTER WANTS TO FULFILL YOUR DREAMS OF CONTINUED THREATS AND VIOLENCE. BEAT ONE ANOTHER UP AND STAB EACH OTHER..YOU LIKE IT...WE DON'T...THAT'S THE POINT...YOU
ARE NOTHING BUT BULLIES IN GROUPS OF ENDLESS PREGNANCIES..ON AND ON AND ON

2 MAYBE YOU SHOULD TELL PRS/LATINOS

HOW TO BEHAVE IN PUBLIC
IN SCHOOL
DURING A TEST
HOW TO USE CONDOMS
HOW TO PREVENT GETTING AIDS OR PREGNANT
HOW TO STOP USING AND DEALING DRUGS
HOW TO STAY OUT OF GANGS
HOW TO BEHAVE LIKE RESPONSIBLE CITIZENS
HOW TO LIVE WITHOUT THREATS AND VIOLENCE
HOW TO INTERPRET THE BIBLE CORRECTLY AND KNOW HOW TO LIVE AS GOOD CITIZENS

3 COMMON SENSE DICTATES IT IS NEVER THE FAULT OF THE INNOCENT FOR WHAT THE GUILTY, IGNORANT INDIVIDUAL OR GROUPS DECIDE TO DO. LIFE IS A SERIES OF CHOICES. MANY OF US HAVE NOT MADE POOR CHOICES, THEREFORE WE HOLD NO RESPONSIBLITITY FOR THOSE WHO HAVE.

YOU OWN YOUR CHOICES AND WHOM YOU SUPPORT

FYI
MANY PEOPLE DID TRY TO CORRECT THINGS IN READING

LATINOS LIKE YOU THREATENED THEM, JUST LIKE YOU DID IN THE ABOVE POST..
BECAUSE YOU ARE NOTHING MORE THAN ONE OF THEM...you proved it in your words.

THEY LEFT AND WENT TO ASSIST PEOPLE AND AREAS WHERE THE CITIZENS WOULD NOT THREATEN OR KILL THEM...THEY WENT WHERE THEY KNEW THEY COULD DO SOME GOOD....AND STAY ALIVE AND UNTHREATENED

DO YOU REALLY THINK THAT TYPE OF BEHAVIOR SOLVES ANYTHING OR PROLONGS OUR RESENTMENT OF LATINOS?
YOU BE THE JUDGE

Yes and...

SOME PEOPLE SAY THE FOLLOWING:

The language is the least of their problems

There are Latinos from many countries and gangs in Berks.

Their gov'ts did not even want them so they shipped 'em out.

The various cultures/gangs hate and kill each other as they vie for each others boyfriends, girlfriends, pot, money, cocaine, drug sales, etc.

Most criminal latinos in Reading will do almost anything to get stuff, money, drugs, sex

There are many gangs in Reading and of course they won't tell you that they may be members or supporters of those gangs as long as they are all gaining something like guns, money, marijuana, heroin clothes, sex, etc.

As evidenced in a previous post, they are very experienced in using threats of violence and carrying them out. They have little integrity or ability regarding study skills or hard work so they must resort to the wild violent herd mentality of hurting anyone who tells the truth
about them.

They even kill each other...they don't use birth control so they use AIDS and murder as a form of population control..incredible, isn't it?

Berks County ranks No.6 in PA on the AIDS list because of their rampant sexual intercourse and IV drug use. Guess which race/group leads in those activities and carries the most HIV disease? some are teens in school but they still...spread the cheer... to others who are into that...tell your sons and daughters

More bad news...since 9/11, the gov't has made it more difficult for all to import drugs from everywhere...they are not happy

There are many reasons to keep our distance from them as Latinos are a very special group indeed.

SOME PEOPLE SAY THE ABOVE THINGS. YOU BE THE JUDGE.
