Providing financial aid is one thing...but are we talking about making it more affordable for them versus what some of us are paying or have to pay? If so, then a resounding NO!

Wait a second....why are you blaming Obama?? It states "Pa. Rep. Tony Payton, D-Philadelphia, introduced a bill this week that would give the children of illegal immigrants cheaper in-state college tuition rates." Just because he's a democrat you are blaming the president?? Seriously ridiculous!

I have to say I'm just astounded by this. What a terrible idea! I understand that these kids did not chose to come here but give me a break! We are rewarding bad behavior here!! There should not be any special treatment for anyone illegal. Have them go through the long process every other foreign person has too if they want to become a green card holder and eventually a US citizen, then we can talk about getting scholarships, employer contribution to college, etc. Until they are legal this is just nuts!

Are you kidding me. I pay taxes, by kids had to take out school loans, who is more deserving then, U.S. citizens.

What I am thinking right now...could not be put in print.

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. Charity begins at home.

NO NO NO! I'm tired of hearing about the "rights" of illegal aliens. They are ILLEGAL which means AGAINST THE LAW. There is no way I'm rewarding them with MY TAX MONEY but educating their children when my own school district (where my LEGAL CITIZEN child goes) has just cut 185 teachers! NO NO NO NO!!! That's IT. NO!

I agree. I came from California to get out of their societal crap and BANG! I finished my masters, moved to "supposedly" bucolic Pennsylvania, and it is even worse here. Solely based on the population affected and economic status. WTF. I guess I'm a substitute with a Masters for life.

Dream Act, it would be my kids, who are citizens, dream to attend college free or at a reduced rate. Would other countries give my kids this reduced rate? I don't think so. America wake up and take care of our own!
is this a joke

This is just wrong. There are law abiding legitimate American youth who cannot afford to go to college. Please let'sgive them the break. Let's send the poor ILLEGAL immigrants who are here through no fault of their own home. While we are at it let's send along their illegal parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins and all the do gooders and all the people that want hand outs but won't learn the American language (which is still English right?) back where they illegally came from.

Just like California! Way to go, PA. Fast Eddie would be proud of the Keystone State, far from being a keystone of anything anymore!

Umm.. I'd like to get some assistance to put my two college age children thru school - NO ONE gave us any assistance - can we PLEASE lower tution for people who have to PAY for it? We are US citizens and feel like we no longer matter. We have paid taxes since day one. Please, please re-consider and lower tution for US CITIZENS! My children have made deans list - and honor role in high school, but we have to foot the bill ourselves. Plus I have two more children to put thru school - we have a home, pay taxes, insurance, cars, pay our credit cards, don't gamble, I can't get my nails done, hair done or wear designer clothes, but most illegals have their govt debit card, hair and nails done and have the big designer bag, plus the smart phone - i'm lucky to have a cheapo cell phone. This country is in the crapper.

Who are the fools who elected Rep. Tony Payton, D-Philadelphia in the first place? This is the Democratic party at work -- take from everybody else *all the time.* What a bunch of idiots. No to illegal immigrant children having any advantages for college over those already here legally (also here "through no fault of their own"!).

How about we introduce a bill making college more affordable for EVERYONE. The expense of attending universities and colleges is becoming more and more out of reach for the average legal American. I'm sure my kids will have to take out student loans, and pay on them for many, many, years just to get their four years of education which are required for most decent jobs in this country. There is no reason illegal aliens should have an advantage over legal, American citizens....and I am a lifelong democrat.

I agree with Metcalfe, there are plenty of underprivileged USA CITIZENS of college age that could use some help. Take care of our own first.

So we scrimped & saved; son still has college loans he's paying off and my tax money will pay for ILLEGALS to go to college free --- NO! If Mr. POS Peyton has so much money available, pay off the college loans for the CITIZENS of PA. My son & a number of nieces would appreciate that payoff. What part of the word ILLEGAL doesn't anyone understand? It's illegal to do drugs, it's illegal to have an unlicensed gun, it's illegal to rob a bank, it's illegal to drive without your seatbelt, BUT ILLEGAL "residents" who don't respect this country, don't want to speak English, refuse to assimilate, are entitled to what our TAXPAYING CITIZENS CAN'T HAVE. NO MORE!! SHIP THEM BACK TO THEIR COUNTRY OF ORIGIN regardless of where they came from--I'm in favor of a one way steerage ticket and that's all.
And the politicians can go with them and help them in those countries.
