How long this will sit empty? Dempseys at thw Westgate Mall is still sitting for the last 3-4 years. Why doesn't the Texas Roadhouse open there.

Nice move on the part of Texas Roadhouse. I'm sure gift card holders will appreciate getting something for their money, even if it is not a dollar for dollar swap.

That Steak & Ale left it's customers and employees hanging is nothing new. The restaurant business is pretty ruthless. When a location is losing money, every day they are open put them deeper in debt. When the decision to close is made, it's generally done as quickly as Steak & Ale and Bennigan's did. It's not fair, but it's the nature of the business.

Don't be fooled, the manager at the Texas Roadhouse was formally the manager at Steak and Ale. I'm sure he has an agenda of his own that is self profiting.

His agenda is to bring over previous customers from the defunct restaurant and hopefully gain them as new customers at Texas Roadhouse. It is smart business.

Defunct restaurant? I wonder if he had a hand in that, being he was the manager of the store that closed. This is a joke, he's a joke as his restaurant he says he runs.

This is at ALL Texas Roadhouses (corporate-wide), not just LV ones...

Dumb*ss! Yeah, Thats right, the local manager of a Restaurant had a hand in the Corporate failure of a large multi-chain conglomerate, based in fifteen hundred miles away. Why don't you check facts before spouting off.

This guy is just trying to help out people and build a little business for a new restaurant. Moron.

Yes, God forbod that the restaurant make a profit. It might even be able to stay open!

An agenda to make a profit? That's called business.

Good point! Either that or convert the old Dempsey's building to a medical supply store or SOMETHING. Any viable business has to be better than an empty building.

Steak and Ale had a good run for over a decade or so, but just couldn't compete against Outback or Texas Roadhouse in recent years.

For those stuck with Steak & Ale gift certificates, try Texas Roadhouse. My family really enjoys their sirloin (and no, we don't work there).

Now if I could just get them to accept my 5-year old Ground Round gift cards, I'd be set.

They won't take them, because they have no place to remit them to for payment.

Similar thing happening at Bennigan's in Bethlehem. I wanted to use my Bennigan's gift card at the Bethlehem location, thinking there would be no problem (it's Bennigan's, right?) But the gift cards aren't really good anymore, since the Bethlehem restaurant can't get reimbursed for them from the bankrupt corporation (Steak & Ale/ Bennigan's/ Ponderosa/ Bonanza. They accepted it as a courtesy; I lost a few dollars in the deal. People with Bennigan's gift cards thinking they will use them in Bethlehem might want to use them soon - I don't know how long they'll keep up the generosity.

Why wouldn't Ground Round accept a Ground Round gift card? Is that a chain that went bust and somebody kept one open?

Yep. Our Ground Round still has the menu, the name, and everything else like before. But they are simply an independent restaurant, and will not accept any gift card they themselves did not issue.

Same thing with the Bennigans and Steak & Ale.

Guys, when are you gonna figure out that Steak and Ale, Bennigans, Ground Round, Friday's, Tuesday's, Applebees, Texas Roadhouse, Olive Garden, etc., etc., are chains like McDonalds and KFC? Go to a real restaurant where they dont microwave your food in bags!

I agree that the old manager of the Steak & Ale might have an agenda, but it works for his new business.
As for the Westgate Mall, it's all about the management. Are the owners of the mall and the surrounding properties the grand kids of the founder? If this is true there in lies the problem. I seen many times where the kids of the originator have no clue on how to run the biz. This may be the case. My personal thought is that they are waiting for some very big developer to make and offer so they can leave town and go on vacation, forever.
