I do not like seeing them on every corner in South Bethlehem selling flan all YEAR ROUND! At least if they are going to be out there, they should have new, clean uniforms on (Hogar Crea sweatshirt and instead of jeans maybe khakis). You do not want to buy from them because they look unclean. I do like their garbage bags that they sell and their pinchos at Musicfest are really good!

Now I get it. Anything that has to do with or comes out of Puerto Rico is wack or scum. Shut it down NOW.

Agreed! I have been in recovery for years from alcohol and never went to rehab. But I do agree that people with drug addictions need rehab...and they do need people who have been through it to help them. You can't even begin to understand addiction unless you have one.

Remember when Allentown didn't need to deal with these problems. That was before Daddona. Hummm... What did Daddona bring into the city? Oh yeah we can't talk about that problem.

I am a rehabilitated member of this program in Puerto Rico, so I know first hand what is going on. This members of the steering commitee ( Linford Zimmerman, David Clark and John Star ) are only looking out for themselves and not for the wellbeing of the residents in tretment. As a matter of fact they "can not" interfere in the treatment process for they are only supposed to administer the program. That is established in the Constitution of Hogar CREA, Inc. Mr.John Star was a member that resigned two years ago and recently came back, witch in itself is odd. Excuse my writing

This organization is BS. It is a racist organization that discriminates against anyone that is not hispanic. Hispanics are the only ones welcome to participate in the program. I will never support or condone an organization such as this.

This is an organization that knows how to work the system, and the "patients" know too. All they do is collect Welfare and live off of us hard working members of society.

I would never buy only because of the thought of possible food poisoning. They only keep that flan and the cheesecakes in coolers when they are on the street corner selling. I can't imagine what the temperature must be in that cooler during the summer!

Just firebomb the buildings and that will get them out. Imagine if every employee in every company acted like this when a managerial decision did not go in their favor. I hope they shut these places down and i don't get harassed to purchase flan and other bs at stops signs throughout the city...

Does anyone know just how many members Hogar Crea has? And do they all qualify for Public ACCESS Cards, just because they are involved with Hogar Crea.

Is Hogar Crea liscenced by BDAP or accredited as a drug and alcohol treatment program? If so, than they are subject to follow the same guidelines that any other substance abuse treatment facility has to follow, which includes having staff members with appropriate education and degrees. I really don't like the analogy of "If you didn't have a drug problem, you can't possibly help". That's like saying if you have never been raped, you can't be a rape counselor or if you've never been abused you can't be a counselor. It's not always the life experience that makes a good counselor.
I disagree with you i think a person that live the pain of addictions can help someone better they a person the read it from a book!

The recovering addicts who had been running the place did not want to be accountable. Qualified administrators were found to bridge the gap. The recovering addicts who decry accountability prefer to enable their clients to continue addictive behaviors without using drugs.(The brutality itself can be addictive.) ACCESS cards are taken from the clients and turned over to the staff, who do not necessarily return the cards to the clients when the clients leave the program. Hogar Crea does not notify Welfare that the client has left, and keeps using the card. Clients are only eligible while they are in treatment, so the benefits would be discontinued when Hogar CRea reports that the client left treatment. The program requires clients to stay for years, offerring promotions to non-paying positions in the hierarchy, and continuing treatment to continue Welfare payments. The treatment has questionable value. Outside treatment for conditions which cannot be addressed by the facility is not allowed. Conversation with Welfare caseworkers is limited and monitored.

I hope the "insurgents" lose their battle. They are the freedom fighters they purport to be. Accountability must be upheld.

I must agree with your comment. Personally, I have observed (first hand) this organization treating Hispanics much better than any non-Hispanics. Whatever happens, this organization needs to develop a motto of equality.

This really can't come as a surprise to anyone can it? Pr's fighting amongst themselves. The only thing missing was gang colors and guns. I'd bet if the cop there patted them down, he'd have a ton of drug arrests. When will the Lehigh Valley realize that these people are vermin. They called it a plague in biblical days, but we can't now, because that would be politically incorrect

Imagine your home becoming infested by cockroaches... Unlike spiders that kills flies, cockroaches do not serve any benficial purpose..
