you should have stood up back in 2002 and fought for it back then. I've never seen such a bunch of spineless crybabies.

where were you in 2002? When the other six Justices of the SJC reported to their Chief Justice that they were deadlocked on Richard McClure's redistricting complaint, do you think Chief Justice Margaret Marshall said to herself "...well if the Chelmsford Board of Selectmen and not even the current state rep, Carol Cleven, has no interest in this case, I guess we'll just have to agree with the Legislature. What a bunch of cowards.

maybe they want to revisit the issue because everything McClure argued in his lawsuit against redistricting has come home to roost. Thanks for putting up such a great fight back in 2002 Mrs. Cleven and Mr. Eliopoulos and Mr. Dalton.

so i guess we'll be seeing Phil Eliopoulos and the rest of the Chelmsford Board of Selectmen and School Committee holding Richard McClure for State Representative signs this weekend in Chelmsford Center?

only after a Selectman wants to run for state rep does this suddenly become an issue?

only after a Chelmsford Selectman (woman) gets trounced in a primary for State Rep does the Board of Selectmen show an interest in the 2001 redistricting fiasco? Where was Carol Clevin's fight in 2001? Where was the Board of Selectmen then? they were their usual apathetic Bozo's. I'll never forget Cleven's quote re: the redistricting..."oh well, these things happen." snore zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

BOS and Cleven tried to kiss butt and appease the state instead of joining McClure and fighting to help the Town. It was noted in the court record that they did not support the lawsuit. It was also decided that they couldn't see the negative affect on Chelmsford from the illegal redistricting. Well they can see the negative affect now. Vote for McClure I wish he was in my district, if he doesn't win, hire him as the Town Attorney to immediately file lawsuit after lawsuit until MA is forced to recognize our community. Actually, the state has had a political bug up its behind about chelmsford for a very very long time. Cleven by the way was useless.

see the dissenting opinion of the three SJC judges:

There is no justification for the Legislature's fragmenting of Chelmsford. n27 We must show great deference to legislative judgment in the intensely political and highly complex matter of [*636] redistricting, but, in my view, the court today has improperly descended from deference to abdication....Having met their burden of proving that the division of Chelmsford into so many pieces is unjustified and therefore unconstitutional. the guy only lost by one Judge; do ya think if Cleven or BOS supported McClure that Chelmsford would have lost?

Cleven and BOS were to afraid, and of course their ego wouldn't allow that as they didn't think of it first. I do not know Mr. McClure but had read about this case some time ago, Mr. McClure has my respect and if we could get this type of person in politics and a couple more like him we would have a government that really runs properly and fairly for people.
