UGH!!! This whole thing stinks. Even if the fire chief was doing a bad job, the selectmen handled this matter terribly.

Geez, looks like a Warren kid wants to be chief, doesn't it. Freaking small town politics.

Come on! Beer in the fire station? Members in charge of the Chief? Is this what Chief Warren did? Of course he did and now he wants his son in there before he leaves office and looses his influence that we all know he is applying. When the ambulance squad shakeup happened selectman Warren stood tall against the wishes of those volunteers. But now his legacy and desire to help his son to it is another story. Chief Mignard needs a lawyer and we need the truth about who is behind all this.

I know Chief Mignard and am shocked at this. The selectmen could have been more professional and met with the chief to tell him and the reasons why.
Good luck Chief! I know you'll end up wheels down, shiny side up!

This is a complete railroad job! I hope Warren is happy.

Seems a little suspicious that Warren's son completes an EMT course and the fire chief's contract is not renewed shortly after. Amazing how these type of coincidences just happen.

Well they aren't hiding it in this article.

The idea that the paper mentioned paving the way for another Warren means something. That didn't come out of nowhere. How brazen the ex chief is in this! This in an ethical nightmare covered by a shallow claim of non involvement. Warren, all of them, should publicly bow out of being involved in or seeking the soon to be vacant position.

Warren should step down as a selectman. Even if he bows out of the hiring process he will still influence the process from behind the scenes.

This whole ousting of Chief Mignard reeks is Selectmen Warren's personal agenda and grave misuse of the authority the people of Groton trusted him to use wisely and in the best inerests of Groton's residents. Instead, whe whole firing of Chief Mignard, whose qualifications and 20 years of service in this field, smells of Warren's nepotism, whether or not he "supposedly" removed himself from the meetings regarding the renewal of Chief Mignard's contact. Warren's fingerprints are all over this. I would ask the residence of Groton's community, if there is a fire or an emergency now that Chief Mignard is gone, can they be confident that the firemen won't have resumed drinking again at the station and that they will be in the condition they need to be to take care or Groton's residents.

Please pardon any typos or grammatical errors in the above comment. My mind was moving faster than my fingers could handle. I hope my point is not lost.

Thank you for correcting me on that fact. Indeed, Robert Mignard was, and until December still is, Harvard's Fire Chief. I would think that one of the area's local investigatory TV affiliates would look into such an obviously questionable story. Maybe someone should make a call. Thank you again for correcting my error.
