I was in North Reading today and I was waiting for my wife to come out of Walgreens on Rt. 28 and she has just busted her knee and is on crutches. I was parked close to the entrance of the Walgreens and an arogant officer on a motorcycle nodded his head at me to move then proceeded to sway back and forth while riding in the parking lot then just kept eyeing me and then left at a rather high rate of speed. Why did he have to be so arrogant and rude? Police need to be reminded they are people also and that we pay their salarys. Police in Ma. just have way to much power and just are not held responsible for their actions. I guess overall that's why they became cops.#1 an excuse to be a jerk.#2 hide behind the badge and gun.#3 use the law as an excuse to be an @&$hole. Police these days are just bothering the wrong people alot of the times. I know alot of people like them around alot of the times but they have no respect for most people and a superior complex toward the world. Let me tell ya most cops are by no means angels as well. Most of the ones I know certainly break the law just like that cop in Revere officer Todd randall. just google his name and you will see. Sorry but alot of cops are jerks and really have no idea what it means to protect and serve.

ya know i use to live in that that city for 3 years on park st. and let me tell ya that police dept is compriced of a bunch of crooked jerks. i know first hand that 1 of the wives of the police has been in rehab for oxycontin abuse and another for alcohol abuse. the cops in that city are a bunch of egotistical punks. thay harass the kids in that city like no tommorow. they wait to hear about a party and bust it before it gets started. i know exactly what paul is saying. the cops are far to overbearing and not just police officers they feel like they have to be the entire citys parents and treat the people like kids. that was a good reason why i left. that city like many others in mass are just no place to even fart the wrong way. sorry pigs it is what it is. peace.

I was stopped by N. Reading officer at one time (routing check he called it!). He was screaming and yelling after I told him I am a perfect driver and citizen. He told me that I am lying to him and that I have a long enough record to put me away, refering to a couple of speeding tickets I had over 30 years ago when I was a teenager! Meanwhile I have a perfect driving record with no violations for over 30 years! But go figure, he has the power!
Of course wonderful Mass Law will not tolerate any recording in court or I would record this moran and sent it to higher authorities. What a jerk! It's a little relief knowing that more people see this happening. Maybe someday someone will be able to do something about them. Worst possible police department I ever seen! They're definitely think they are above the law!

Maybe he was looking at you trying to figure out why you made your wife, who is on crutches, go into the store while you sat in the car. He probably was thinking he would never treat his wife that way.

I have to agree about the No. Reading cops. I was on Park St. and took a left (with plenty of room) onto Haverhill St. Well, a cop came zipping up behind me and pulled me over. He said that I should've waited for all the cars coming towards me to pass before I took the left turn and that if I got "t-boned" it would be my fault. What really kills me about this is, if you are ever coming down Haverhill St. past the Batchelder school, you will come to these same street lights. You will also notice that if the car across the street from you is taking a left, they will cut you off 90% of the time - even if you are taking a RIGHT! This happens multiple times a day, occasionally in view of a cop and always about 50 yards from the Police station. Do you think anyone gets pulled over when they make that move - No. Can you imagine a left turn that cuts in front of a right turn? It blows! But, gee, sure hope I don't get "t-boned" making my left turn in light traffic.

It's not just the police department that's crooked/corrupt. N.Reading not all "picket fences"

I've lived in town for 13 years- never had a problem with them. My wife drove an uninspected van for 9 months, no problems. They give great tours to Cub Scouts, and have always been professional in my interactions with them.
I think respect goes a long way in dealing with Police- they consistently (and pretty much solely) see people at their worst, or certainly most stressed.
Respect goes both ways.

Gee, I guess you think it's real respectful for your wife to drive an uninspecred van around for 9 months?!
Guess what, that's not only disrespectful, it's illegal! Gomer!

With so much that is going on in the world today and with all the hold ups at pharmacies, banks, jewerlry stores, etc...although I understand why you were in front of Walgreens. I would have done the same thing but I would have explained it to the police officer so he had a better understanding and if that still was not cool with the police officer, I would have parked elsewhere in the parking lot and pulled up when I saw her come out.

North Reading is a small town. Anyone that looks suspicious or out of place will probably get pulled over. You have to expect that in ANY town/suburb you go into. They want to keep their town safe. Not ALL police officers are about the badge some really do care and others well just like in the medical field are there for the money or they have just seen too much over time and they become cynical. Try doing their jobs. Put yourself in their shoes before you judge. They put their lives on the line everyday. And then their are others that think because they have a badge they are God and can do no wrong.

Respect has deminished when it comes to society today and that goes for anyone and every occupation. To show a little respect may get you out of a ticket.
