Start roping off a reserved section for anti-40b folks at all future selectmen meetings. VD will be busy - trying to build his own credibility.

I would like to hear what all the candidates think about reducing the debt of the Town, and new building projects. We need the town tax and water/sewer costs reduced not level and not increased, that includes not increasing 2 1/2 percent. Nobody's salary (but teachers and school administration) are going up to cover the 2 1/2.

These 40bs are a joke, they don't add low or moderate income housing and they devastate the schools. State needs to pay for what they mandate. They should have counted the mobile homes in the 10% affordability, we wouldn't have to go after property tax if they had been counted for something. The coalition needs to join the state at their meetings.

DVD still doesnt get it. He says "the real issues facing the town now are greater than 40B...we still need to address the town's fiscal concerns" Clearly, he STILL doesn't understand that 40B is partly to blame for the current fiscal debacle.
This is something that every person seems to know and virtually every study seems to prove, but Chelmsford Selectmen STILL DONT GRASP. Then people wonder why groups like the slow growth initiative and repeal 40B (both of which I am a member) have to send out such harsh mailings. Its because apparently you can bash these people over the head with a 2x4 and they STILL dont get it.
40Bs cost chelmsford money, PERIOD. Wake up and smell the coffee people. Besides, Don has been on the Finance committee already. If he couldnt help us out of the financial situation from there, why does he think he can do it as selectman?
Oh, and Don, we know you have a fancy degree, you can stop mentioning your education at every opportunity.

One of the best things about 40B (if you are a developer) is to buy the property (usually an ailing property) off a person (whom you know) and come in with the 40B. Typically the person who owns the property buys it and sits on it for a year or two and then 'decides' he cannot deal with it and sells it to the 40B developer for two to three times what he paid for it. On paper it is all legal. Almost every 40B is done this way. If the original seller where selling directly to the developer, they would want a lot more money for the property so the developer gets a middle man to get the property cheap ahead of time...

Bottom line - 40B profiteers are not appreciated in Chelmsford. Move on Donald.

I hope Van Dyne nails these clowns to the wall. He's right, if you want ot reform the law then do it. But to attack eveyone and throw bombs at individuals, they should be sued. They support Skipper Jim, great, so that one issue will be resolved but at what cost. The Skipper wants to set up a legal fund? With who's money?

Nice enough guy, but not a Selectman

Excuse Mr. Dixon has profited from 40B's, should he move on as well?

I hope not, he seems like a decent man

Answer: If you lay with pigs, you're gonna stink.

If you're pro 40B (including personally benefited from it) you're culpable. Get on the bus.

Ya know , This article, obviously initiated by Van Dyne, has got to be the STUPIDEST pre-election move I have seen in years. Does he think this is the smartest way to proove his innocence ??? If I were him I would blow it off and move on. All this does is somehow reinforce that the Repeal 40B group is a more legitimate bunch than many people thought. Donnie ....Babe.....what the he11 were you thinking !!!!

In the mailing sent out it mentioned the payoff of $1,000.00 plus or minus to each homeowner on Glen Isle..Is this a true fact that Mr. Van Dyne paid residents so they would allow this 40B project? I do not see Mr. Van Dyne disbuting this fact in the letter he addressed to the Lowell Sun.

People dispise candidates that are embroiled in conflict. Bad timing to put the spotlight on himself in this manner.

Good for Van Dyne, these wacks think they can just write about anything and anybody and not be responsible for errors. Typical NIMBY attitude, get over yourself 40B wacks

I am voting for Donald and Dixon, both have allready served Chelmsford well, and are concerned about more than one issue. It is a shame that this group of 40-b extreamists have set the tone in this election. Isn't this this same group that the current board of selectmen reprimanded for lies in a previous mailer? For once, could we just vote for the best candidate and not act like middle school kids voting for the "In Crowd". Chelmsford has closed fire stations, schools, let employees go, and you want to elect someone who is called skipper, just because he is against 40b? Wake up and Save our Town, vote for Dixon and Van Dyne.

So a selectman canidate is going to sue for libel/slander over a 40B he was involved with?

Good luck with that, cause you are going to lose via the Anti-SLAPP statute if there is even a grain of truth to it. And you'll end up having to pay the other side's legal defense costs.

"Security Concerned" writes that "40B extreamists [sic] have set the tone in this election. Isn't this this same group that the current board of selectmen reprimanded for lies in a previous mailer?" Yes, the "40B Extreamists" were reprimanded, but there were no lies, only Bill Dalton's blustering. The Slow Growth Initiative representatives at that BOS meeting were NOT allowed to speak in response to Bully Dalton's ignorant and inflammatory remarks. Blame Dalton, not SGI.
