The council and the mayor were just voted in - people around here do not understand what that means. We will be voting for a senator (Coakly = Status Quo)soon too and it looks like the fossil Olver will be moving on. Tax and spend liberals are what this state is all about. To change that the one party system in this state people need to wake up and start voting these bozo's out at the local level. There is no such thing as fiscal responsibility in this state. The state elected a murderer (Kennedy) a liar (Kerry) a key screw-up in the banking industry / a big party spender on the taxpayer (Franks). Roberto's plan is to tax, spend and create or attract ZERO new jobs - that seems to be the "liberal way".

Inflation is much higher than what the federal government says it is! For the Social Security Administration to say inflation is 0 is absurd! Pittsfield should NOT be raising taxes while giving tax credits and other public incentives to special interests. Mayor Jimmy Ruberto, Gerry Lee, et al, are the proverbial Robin Hood in reverse: Robbing the poor and giving to the rich!

I know I probably shouldn't type this and please take it for what it is..........STOP paying your taxes.
Look at all the tax properties that are on the books. They owe $30,000.00 plus or more.
If you figure it out you probably have a good 10 years before they do anything and when they do act on it they won't ask for the whole amount just part of it.
I know this is not productive but it is factual.

Not true they make you repay the full amount plus 14% interest, the law does not allow them to accept anything less

You asked for it, now you're getting it. Unless all the people voicing displeasure on here voted for Bianchi, you jave no right to complain. You wrte warned of what was going to happen, and it will happen for two more years too. Get used to it.

I agree with Rob. Start voting for any other party. At least when there is a little competition the party in power will send money to us to get our vote. And all politicians are practically the same so voting along different party lines really does not make a difference except we may recieve some money from the government, like the $300 million that went to Louisiana.

The Constitution of The United States of America explicitly limits the powers of the government, it does not limit the rights of the citizen.

Read it here: http://www.archives.gov/exhibits/charters/con...

Then goto: http://www.archives.gov/exhibits/charters/con...

and learn what your US History teachers never taught you because they are NEA and AFT members.

you are wrong... if you don`t pay your taxes they will forclose in april for 2008 taxes.... so please don`t do that.... I understand how you feel but not paying taxes is not the answer.... we need to stand up together.... if as a group we stand up then maybe we have a chance.... I`m giving up.... I already moved to vermont next I will start selling everything I own in Pittsfield.. get out while you still can.... I know what I`m doing is the coward thing to do but I`m not raise my rents.... My tenants can`t afford the rent as is... I have people that moved in paying 800 month and now they pay 620... I could evict them but I have somany other that are not paying so I let it go..... It sad.... I never had it this bad.... so sell and move out or stand up as a group and fight back....

Its high time we stop paying our credit cards and check line 7 of our W-4s which will prevent employers from deducting our federal taxes from our pay checks. Think they'll get the message?

Really?
I was at the tax collectors office and a man walked up to the window and wanted to pay.
He was 3 years past due on a commercial property and was asked by the collector if he was paying the whole amount due or just what he needed to "keep out of trouble".
Of course he paid the "keep out of trouble" amount.

Perhaps this special treatment is for who you are or who you know.

It should be called the city tax clerk and not "collector".

Went down to city hall today and my property value is down a thousand. I'll be paying an entra $68.00 a year. Not a big deal. I don't see why Jimmy gs all worried about it he gets free money at the expense of tax payers anyway. I guess that's one less carton of cigarettes for him a year. My point is maybe people should find out exactly how much extra they're going to be paying before stressing out about it.
