IN AMERICAN EVEN IN TIMES OF CRISIS WHEN PEOPLE HAVE COME FROM AFAR TO HELP RESOLVE A PROBLEM. HELP IS NOT ALWAYS APPRECIATED. THESE MEN ALONG WITH THEIR FELLOW CO-WORKERS COULD HAVE REMAINED IN PENNSYLVANIA, TO THE CONFINES OF THEIR HOMES IN FRONT OF A NICE FIRE PLACE. BUT FOR WHAT EVER REASONS MAY IT BE. THEY DECIDED TO GO TO ARKANSAS AND HELP OUT IN A TIME OF NATIONAL CRISIS. THE BEHAVIOR OF THESE TEENAGERS /YOUNG ADULTS ARE THE BY-PRODUCTS OF AN OLD IDEA. I CAN NOT SEE THEM SITTING AT HOME SEWING MATERIAL TOGETHER TO MAKE A CONFEDERATE FLAG, NOR HAVING POSESSION TO FIREARMS AND AUTOMOBLES TO BE USE TO HARASS INNOCENT PEOPLE,BUT THE RESOURCE CAME TOGETHER. AGAIN PEOPLE, WHO HAD COME TO HELP RESTORE THE ELECRICAL POWER TO THEIR HOMES. I WONDER HOW MANY ELDERLY AND INFANTS HAD TO SUFFER A LITTLE LONGER THAN NECESARY WHILE THE FOOLISH PLAYED OLD GAMES. ITS TIME OUT FOR THIS FOOLISHNESS. THIS IS ONE OF THE PRIMARY REASON MONEY IS WASTED TRYING TO CREATE A HEALTHY IMAGE THAT THAT VISITING/TOURING ARKANSAS IS WORTH VISITING. WITHOUT A DOUBT THERE ARE ALOT GOOD PEOPLE IN ARKANSAS OF EVERY RACE .BUT, ITS MOMENTS LIKE THIS THAT MAKE THEIR EFFORTS SO DIFFICLT TO SEE AND TO APPRECIATE.

Not surprised, more surprised that it was limited to that one area. Which tells me that it is not as bad as it used to be. We had power crews up here from Colorado, Texas and Kentucky and nothing like that happened.

This was my first major ice storm around here, but I was more impressed with the way people handled it than anything else. Our town was completely shut down, we didn't even have power for the traffic lights, for a week. We had no looting, no fights breaking out over the last candle at the local hardware store, nobody killed, it surprised me. I have never ever lived in a part of the country where looting and violence did not happen as a direct result of a natural disaster. Instead people were out helping each other, and making sure their neighbors were okay and had everything they needed.
