Unfortunately the term "sex offender" is occasionally cheapened by the all or nothing nature of the term. Someone can be a sex offender for a fairly mundane offense, subject to the interpretation of a single person who may be very bias against them. Fortunately some places recognize varying levels of offense, in which a person my have to be added to a registry for a limited time, or the rest of their life, depending on the severity of the crime. Im not saying all sex offenders are innocent, I'm just saying some may be stigmatized due to a temporary inclusion to the list, despite a relatively unoffensive sexual offense.

I WILL say that the age of consent in Kentucky is 16, so some of you may want to double check your loved one's situations.

It honestly depends on what the offense is and age of the victim. Some ppl get the label when it's between a 17 & 18 year old couple who's parents don't approve;( It happens!

I am married to a sex offender. But he wears the label. He didn't do what he was convicted of. Before judging a book, you can talk to people to find out what happened because shit happens. If anyone else out there is married to an innocent sex offender, I would love to share stories and provide support. My husband is a wonderful man who simply recieved a spam email and got arrested 6 months later for it. feel free to email me at jojod1382@yahoo.com

im engaged to a ROS.. but i know his situation and the reason for it was jealousy and so that a certain person wouldnt get in trouble for the crime.. tried to pin it on someone else first their own father, when that didnt work thy got mad and jealous that other family left him all their land and property when they died that they pushed it off on him so hed lose everything to them.. POS is what the people that are putting him through this.. you can tell by the way people act if they are a predator or not just have to watch the signs. right now we are waiting for all the proof to come to light so the real monsters will be taken care of..

Because we're all human and everyone deserves a second chance!!! Just like the judge gives murderes a second chance after they have taken lives away.

ANYONE WHO HAS COMMITED A SEXUAL CRIME AND HAS BEEN PROSECUTED FOR THAT CAN BE FOUND ON THE STATE SEX OFFENDER REGISTRY. ALL YOU NEED IS A NAME. IT IS A GOOD THING THAT THERE ARE NO GRANDCHILDREN INVOLVED IN THIS SITUATION, BUT IF THE SAID PERSON HAS CHILDREN IT WOULDN'T BE A VERY GOOD SITUATION TO PUT THEIR CHILDREN IN AS WELL. I'VE ALWAYS HEARD THAT IF THEY DID IT ONCE THEY WOULD TRY IT AGAIN...SORT OF LIKE YOU CAN'T TEACH AN OLD DOG NEW TRICKS.'JUST THINKING' IF YOU KNOW FOR SURE THAT THIS PERSON IS A REGISTERED SEX OFFENDER, AND THIS LADY OR GENTLEMAN; THAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT MARRYING THE SEX OFFENDER (BECAUSE NOT ALL OF THEM ARE MALES), IS YOUR FRIEND OR RELATIVE THEN YOU SHOULD TRY TO EXPLAIN WHAT KIND OF DANGER THEY COULD BE PUTTING THEIR CHILDREN OR SOMEONE ELSE CHILDERN IN, IF THEY CONTINUE TO MARRY THIS PERSON. AS FAR AS CHANGING WELL LETS HOPE THAT IS TRUE, BUT HIGHLY UNLIKELY,NOT THAT IT CAN'T HAPPEN BUT IT VERY RARELY DOES.
got news for you, wanna-be-lawyer,judge and jury, not everyone on that list was Tried, Indicted for, Accused of a sex crime. A few fell under statutes enacted after non sexual offense. So know your facts before you condemn everyone.

Wise up! A sex offender is not always a child molester. My fiancÚ fooled around with someone two years younger when he was 13. Sounds real dangerous.

Not all people listed on the sex offender registry have committed or been accused/convicted of a crime against or in anyway related to children. Pedophilia is a completely separate thing on top of sexual offenses.

I am a college educated, professional, divorced mother and I am engaged to be married to a registered sex offender- and it's been incredibly difficult and often frustrated situation.

My fiancÚ was charged with attempted sex abuse in the 1st degree 20 yrs ago for having sex with his then common law wife after they'd been fighting over an affair shed had. The argument resumed after and she called the police- upon interview she claimed she consented to sex only because she was afraid of him and that he called her a whore. The result was what the courts call "forcible compulsion". During proceedings she attempted to have those specific charges dropped- but the district attorney would
Not do so. He accepted 5 yrs probation and 1 year later they married legally and had a second child.

Then came the Internet and its wide spread use in nearly every home- they divorced for other reasons after 9 yrs of marriage and he's been left with the painful stigma that most of you have portrayed.

He never hurt a child, never raped a woman, never engaged in any deviant or pornographic act- yet being on that registry people assume the worst.

I get that. In fact before him- I thought exactly the same way. All I can suggest is to read the details found on anyone's registry. This will indicate the charge, age and sex of the victim and weapons if used etc.

This may help to at least distinguish the severity and risk of an individual.

Im married to a man that has to register as a sex offender but only bcz he was 17and his ex was 15 and she got pregnant..in the meantime he turned 18 - He planned on marrying her! She then lost the baby and they lost interest with each other. A few months later he got with me and I got pregnant, we then got engaged, the ex got so jealous she had her patents press charges on him. He was in jail the whole time I was pregnant and will be on probation a long time! He also now has to register as a sex offender. He and I both work with his ex in Lebanon and have even got to where we can all talk and are friendly!(our child is 5 now) So no not all sex offenders have committed a haneous crime. But the ones that have should be castrated.
