Failure of gaming bill impacting jobs, economy and election, lawmak...

Gov. Deval Patrick's showdown with the Legislature over expanded gambling has opened the door to criticism of the incumbent Democrat for job losses at the state's tracks, but could also be the crack Patrick needs to run once again as the principled reformer. Full Story

The whole "debate" over this bill was like a bunch of little kids at grammer school recess arguing over a playground game and Deville took his ball and went home. Elections are coming "kiddies".

Hey Assland Old Townie....The Devil is in the State House, but his name is not Patrick....its sitting in the House and in the Senate. They are the dumbos that want to save the dog tracks and keep the slots in Boston. We need several well run first class Casinos and entertainment centers in this state.

If the Casino developers had paid the right people off, this would have flown thru the state house. In Massachusetts, you pay to play

this was such a bad bill, that the Governor had to return it with changes.
too many give aways to special interest groups.
no bid contracts, etc.

Rhode Island had to go to court to stop giving 10 million $ a year to greyhound breaders.

Connecticutt had to go to court when thier greyhound racing track wanted to switch to car racing.
they were sued by greyhound breaders.

after 5 years, Quebec had reached 80 million $ to horse breaders.( 5 million $ just for their restaurant tabs).
with racinos we would end up with the problems other States have or are facing.

respect the will of the voters, no racinos.

Did you know that our govt bailed out (majorly) the Mohegan Sun? Just like the banks they spent tons on bailing out this casino who has foreign ties.

The casinos are not worth it, they are simply ripping us all off either way.

Please explain this message...what government bailed out Mohegan Sun? Give us the names of the "Foreign Ties" that run the Mohegan Sun and other Casinos. I will not hold my breath waiting for your explanation.

Kerzner International will pull any trick to get away with anything they even lied to a court in an affidavit this past autumn to get away with crimes done on people that Kerzner hired, housed and was supposed to be watching yet could care less about anyone. People have been found murdered on their properties or right nearby and some were staying at their places yet people are not being told this. The crime itself is enough for all people in this area to say no we do not want them here what so ever, someone is pushing them to come in. People do not want them here now but they keep putting things in the news making it look like everyone does, we do not. Even the Senator voted no and he was correct and knows what I am telling you right now. Our state has got to be corrupt because they simply do not care about what we want and what we know is good or not good for our communities. The stimulus money will come into CT and just come back out into the Northeast Group it is the same people and they will keep asking for more on both sides with both names. Kerzner has over 70 dbas at this time so that people will not know about them or what is going on yet I do as I stated we know the truths and have been trying to get the word out as far as safety for everyone around here. It does not matter what the Gov makes them sign they will pull other things and lie to get out of everything if need be and we know they did.

I would like to see the count of jobs that were newly made in Ct by the older casino. I doubt if any were at all, they are old jobs and they brought in 1 billion in 2009 profit I believe I read today.

This is totally wrong the casinos bring in more crime, murders, rapes, robberies, criminals how could you even write this?

It is a known fact and those are not the only crimes so get ready for worse not better. The police will be corrupt to protect them also, so wrong again. You will pay more taxes as they will and do continually ask for federal and state aid and it is us paying for that. They are basically predators of a bad kind, they take our moneys from our govts, rip you off, crimes happen and no responsibility happens. They double dip on tax deductions and the one in Palmer or that wants to come in has over 70 names to get away with it all.

I would rather go to Foxwoods. There is no way a Casino in Massachusetts would be able to compete with The Woods. Can you imagine the Massachusetts Government running a place like Foxwoods....there would be more Guido's on the payroll for doing nothing. Fawghetaboutit!!!!
