Thank-you so much for endorsing question 3! At least one newspaper in MA has the facts straight!

Thanks for writing such a wonderful article about passing Question 3, phasing out greyhound racing. We need to stop this brutal "sport". These gentle dogs should not have to live a life of slavery, confinement and injury. They are not treated as living beings but slaves of the racing tracks.

Thank you for taking a courageous stand,

Thank you for your public support of Yes on Question 3. Racing greyhounds in Massachusetts are kept in very small cages for 20 hours per day, and suffer horrible injuries while racing. Greyhounds are just like any other dog, and deserve to be part of a family. For more information and facts about Massachusetts greyhound racing, visit , and VOTE YES ON 3!

I am surprised and disappointed that a reputable publication such as yours, which represents the great City of Pittsfield, and which speaks to the independent spirit of Berkshire residents, could be so wrong on this issue. It offends the very essence of fairness and justice to outlaw a long standing legal industry by referendum vote, just because the activity offends a small group of people or because the activity is unpopular. To outlaw a seventy-five year old tradition in Massachusetts and to put more than 1,000 hard working people on the unemployment rolls is not fair, it's not just, and it's not consistent with the values of the people of the Berkshires.

If you want to see what the tracks really think about the dogs check out this link:
Watch as a track representative says that they are not dogs (in essence that they are machines or commodities).

Thank you for your excellent article on Question 3. This is not about "tradition" but about loving, gentle dogs who deserve to be treated as pets like any other breed, something not afforded to them during their racing careers. As an owner of two retired racers, I urge all voters to vote YES on Question 3.
