Ban dog racing in Bay State

Full story: Lowell Sun
Most people are not aware of the horrible suffering caused by dog racing. For more than 20 hours a day, greyhounds are confined to cages barely big enough for them to turn around in. Full Story

These people who work at the greyhound parks should not be working in an industry that is known for its reckless abuse of animals. Would you keep your own dogs or pets in cages for 20 hours a day? The greyhound racing proposal does not end the racing industry in Massachusetts right away. It will give the 700 people (not 1,000 btw) that will lose their jobs 2 whole years to find new work in the service industry. There are many service industry jobs out there that do not abuse animals that these people can find jobs in. It is time we put an end to the cruelty and stood up for animal rights. Please if you have a heart, and care about animals...vote YES on 3 for the dogs. You wouldn't put your own dog in a cage for 20 hours would you?

besides being terribly cruel to dogs this is an outdated form of betting. do dog and horse tracks attract hotels, motels, inns? do they attract limos, cabs and transportation companies?do they attract resturants, diners, cafes, coffee shops, sub shops, fast food outlets? how about shoe stores, clothing outlets? we need casinos NOW!!!!
a dog/horse track only has a set amount of low paying jobs where as a casino will attract tens of thousands of high paying positions. why are we letting all that money go to conneticut? why? we are losing million$$$$$$$$$ daily!as for the cry babies worrying about people losing their jobs there will still be simulcast racing [which is not the answer.]the jobs will still be there. i think dog tracks/horse tracks would be great for casinos!no one would lose a job and animals would be saved.
