We own a retired Greyhound racer. She is the most loyal, quiet, patient pet I have ever owned. And she loves to run! That's what her body is built for. She is a 3,000 year old breed. By stopping Greyhound racing, you are taking away what the breed loves and is meant to do. I don't think racing should be abolished, but ammended with stricter guidelines of care for the dogs. More inspections of the tracks and kennels. When Bailey runs she is sleek, beautiful and graceful. She was born to run.

The state wants this, they will make these dog tracks into satellite gaming and casino's. you will still be wagering at the eternal Florida racetracks by simulcast.

People, don't fall for these lies again 8 years later. From the November 6, 2000 Boston Herald column by Joe Fitzgerald - "...you should be equally appalled by the efforts of a group called Grey2K to wage a ruthless campaign of deceit, distortion and defamation of character. Radical animal rights activists are determined to kill the greyhound racing industry in this state by any means necessary, which is why they weren't the least bit embarrassed when forced to admit that much of their advertising has been fraudulent. So if you go to the polls only to vote No on Question 3, you will have made a compelling statement, rejecting this attempt to ambush an industry through the dissemination of lies." Eight years later, nothing has changed with these animal extremists. The MSPCA's job is to investigate and prosecute any and all claims of animal abuse and cruelty in this state, yet they have never filed charges against any racing kennel or track, and they can inspect the kennels at will and on demand. Question 3 is a tax increase, your taxes will go up to make up for the deficit from the lack of handle from the tracks. You will also pay for a thousand people to be on unemployment indefinitely in this economy. Don't vote yourself a huge tax increase based on someone's feelings or opinions which are baseless and factless. VOTE NO ON 3! www.protectdogsandjobs.org

It is obvious that Dorchak understands nothing about economics as her estimate for the number of possible lost and/or adversely affected fails jobs to consider the ripple effect that closing the two racetracks would incur. No industry, including greyhound racing, runs totally independent and Dorchak's claims fails to consider the impact on the various local businesses that would certainly be affected if this measure passes.

As for her claim that her group would support rerouting taxpayer money toward job-retraining programs for the affected workers....

Just who do you think you are fooling Ms. Dorchak ?

The committee to protect dogs as you call yourselves is nothing but an hsus front group that was formed specifically for the sole purpose of attempting to ban greyhound racing in Massachusetts and just like "propaw" the front group created 12 years ago to ban wildlife management practices, will either fade into oblivion or, as in the case with propaw, resurface in another state pulling the same ruse they are now pulling in Massachusetts.

I think dog racing is cruel.Yes these dogs are fast but they were not put on this earth to be raced and when they are not longer valued euthanized. There are rescue people for Greyhounds but many are killed. This is also supprting an addiction..gambling.

Taxpayer money is being "poured into" dog tracks?! Who knew? I thought it was the other way around, that dog tracks and their employees paid taxes to the state. This is classic Grey2K Newspeak. Nothing that comes out of their mouths is real.

Greyhounds most certainly WERE put on earth to race. They were bred for millennia to course game. 2,000 years ago the Romans formalized the rules of coursing to make it a sport which has continued into the 21st century. In the last 80 years they've been bred to race. They are working dogs who also happen to make great pets after they are retired.

There was coursing in every culture with sighthounds, Ramdan, and there still is. The Egyptians, Greeks, Romans, Celts, Bedouin, Afghanis, British, Irish, Scots, French, Australians and Russians have all coursed their hounds. Racing is currently conducted in the U.S., Ireland, Great Britain, Australia, Sweden, Finland, Germany, Holland, and Hungary on various scales. Coursing didn't just improve the sighthound breeds, it CREATED them. Racing has brought the Greyhound to its current state of refinement.

The Committee to Protect Dogs has nothing to do with protecting dogs. This ballot question would include lure coursing and non betting greyhound races, if they were concerned about the dogs. If the Nationals come to Massachusetts there will be hundreds of races run and they will be legal because there is no betting on them. They have never donated to help any adoption group, all they want is for you to DONATE MONEY to them. Do you remember the picture, in 2000, that Christine Dorchak and Grey2K ran in the newspapers trying to portray it as a United States dog. The picture was from SPAIN. You would think with all the abuse and death that they talk about, that they could have gotten one picture of it. Makes you wonder why they had to get one from SPAIN, doesn't it. Lyingis what you do when you are wrong and want to make your case seem right. Then there are the lies about the number of injuries. Somehow the number of injuries went from 720 to 800. I guess they just rounded it up. Then the masters of confusion don't want to use all the dogs races to figure the injury rate. A rate which stands at .0025%. Yep that's the chance of a dog getting hurt in a race. Then, the masters of confusion, want to count the dogs that are sent to another track to continue racing as not adopted. So they say the adoption rate in Mass. is, either 14% or 31%, it's hard to keep track of their lies. They can't even keep the same number when lying so it's easy to catch them.

VOTE NO ON 3 help keep your taxes down.

This is sort of the same thing in a way as the no trapping thing. Trot out a dog that lost its leg to cancer, blame trappers, and vote the thing out of existence.
