One person was injured and law enforcement officers were fired at multiple times during a shooting Sunday night that occurred on the 800 block of Nieman Street, said Rawlins Police Chief Mike Reed.
Reed said the injury was non-life threatening. The alleged shooter has been taken into custody. Neither the name of the alleged shooter or the victim — who was reportedly with the alleged shooter — was available at this time, but it is expected to be released later today. An emergency call reporting the shooting came in at 11:29 p.m., and Rawlins Police and deputies from the Carbon County Sheriff’s Office responded. Reed said it took three minutes for law enforcement to arrive on scene. He did not have a timeframe on how long it took to resolve the incident or take the alleged shooter into custody, other than “It took a long time.” As of 7:45 a.m. Monday, the Police Department was waiting for a search warrant to enter the house where the shooting allegedly occurred. Two complexes had multiple bullet holes in them. The complex that the bullets allegedly came out of faces south, and hit another complex that faces north. The two complexes share a parking lot. No one in the north-facing building was injured, Reed said. Bullets hit multiple vehicles in the parking lot, and at least two vehicles — reportedly belonging to the alleged shooter — were seized, Reed said. |
