Hey everyone, I was born in Rawlins and until recently always had family located there. My gradpa was George Herrud who passed away December 2007 and my uncle was Jeff Herrud who died in Nov. 2007. I was wondering if anyone here knew them and had any memories of them. Thanks!

Yes Jamie,
I moved here to Rawlins in 1993. Your Grandpa was my neighbor. I live across the street from his house. Your Grandpa is about the nicest man a person could ever meet. The first year we lived here, he held a block party to help us meet the neighbors. It was awesome! I was also diagnosed with cancer in 2004. George and I went to the same oncologist. We tried to keep each other strong. He tried to keep it light and upbeat. He told me that I looked better bald than he did. I miss him a lot. Your uncle I have met and I know that he was a very nice man. I didn't know him that well though. I like to remember your Grandpa by thinking of him bragging over his flowers in his yard. He definitely had a nack for that.

Hi Shirley, I am actually Mike's Cousin, Jamie's Mom, I try to keep up with your family thru Larry. It would be great to have a family DVD. My Husband, Ken, and I live in St George Utah. Jamie live 50 miles from us with our 4 grandkids. It is great they are close. It would have been fun to have been closer in distance growing up. I remember visiting WA & OR in 1969 with Les and Dorothy and Grandma and Ray. This was the only time I was ever in that area. Now I usually fly East now! My son, Bryce, is in the Air Force and based in New Jersey, but at the moment is deployed in the desert. Would love to know more about your family. I am on facebook with Phyllis' kids and I email with Roy's kids. I also have talked on the phone with Les' step daughter. You can email me at dhamblin@infowest.com! Your cousin Deb

Jamie,
Your grandfather rented the back of our office for his watch repair after he sold his building. We remember the last time he was in our office before he was no longer able to come in and work. The last time he was here he couldnt walk to the front because it was a long way from his office so we pushed him in an office chair. Jeff came many times weekly to bring him lunch.
My husband and I were very good friends with your uncle Jeff and we were there the day he died. My husband still visits Jeff's grave regularly. He also helped in the remodeled of my office and of the space for Georges new space when he sold the building.
We miss them both dearly.

You were all so good to my Dad when was so close to the end. I had wished he could have taken time off and enjoy a little retirement but there was someone that always needs money. I remember Dad telling me that you would push him to the back office. He would have a laugh over that, he was such a people person and so much fun! We miss him and Jeff so much. It was hard to lose them both so close together. The strangest part about all this is that when Jim Lori and I met in Rawlins to check out Jeff's gravestone, we didn't have a place to meet. No houses, no store, so strange. Dougie said we could meet at his house, but we met at the park and went to the cemetary together. I think Lori and I did a great job picking out Jeff's stone. I hope it did the Fire Department proud. Thank you for your comments it means a lot to us!
