RAVENSWOOD, W.Va.(AP)- The Environmental Protection Agency says three companies will work on a former Ravenswood industrial site to stop cyanide and fluoride from contaminating soil and groundwater.
The 2.7-acre waste site called the Spent Cathode Storage Pile is fenced off inside an active industrial complex.
EPA said Wednesday it has reached a consent agreement on the 50,000 cubic yards of toxic waste with TRC Companies, TRC Environmental Corp. and Ravenswood Holdings Company.
The site was originally part of a Kaiser Aluminum Plant.
Between 1972 and 1989, smelting wastes were stockpiled on concrete and clay pads, awaiting shipment for mineral recycling.
But recycling of that kind of material stopped in the late '70s. Regulators ordered the waste pile sealed off with a rubber membrane liner to prevent it from leaching into groundwater.

Hey Mayor instead of making everyone angry with your free speech attitude on Facebook. Maybe Joe Manchin could have helped you here.

This may be the dumbest thing I have ever heard. What does the Mayor have to do with this? It isn't even in the city.

Oh great one WOW. Please, oh please, I can never be as smart as you. Please, Please forgive me. The Mayor seems to be putting his nose in a lot of things he has no business putting it.
