River Front Park

this is the one place where people of the community can go and enjoy themselves in beautiful surroundings .during the summer months there is a music jam every thursday evening and there are many events that go on there throught the year. considering that this is the only place in ravenswood that has plenty of parking for all of these special events or just to stop by and enjoy an evening watching the river , i would think that the city of ravenswood would update the BATHROOMS AND PAINT THE OLDER HOUSE THAT IS NOW I BELEIVE BEING USED AS RENTAL PROPERTY. both of these structures are eye sores to the park. the city took the time and effort to build a stage at the park which is not used that often . i would have thought that fixing the buildings that were already there would have been done first .

I would like to also say something about the rented house on the River Front Park...I used to live there 10 years ago and the city made us keep up the outside of the house as well as the inside of it...I think it was due to the other neighbor being jealous of us being so crafty and making the place looking so beautiful...I walked around the building the other day and the back porches on both of the rented apartments were awful.. They were piled with boxes and clutter..When we were living in the apartment on the left, we even marbleized the steps going upstairs and refinished the hard wood floors..They looked beautiful...It was even in the contract that the city officals would and could do a walk thru with a 24 hour notice and now no one cares what the outside looks like...After the neighbor on the right made sure that we were evicted from the apartment, the building started going down hill...It had never looked so good 10 years ago, and now it looks like the building should be torn down...Where is the pride of Ravenswood...Someone needs to make an effort to make the tennants get off their butts and clean their own house.....inside and out.....

Just a note. We have really cleaned the park this year. The Apts are vacant and we are looking into what they can be used for but yes they NEED some(alot) of work. The bathrooms were painted this year and we are trying to keep them open year round as long as the vandalism is down. Mike kelly . Citycouncilman.
