Ravenswood Federal Credit Union. Not one single complaint. I dont think they even allow overdrafts. On a few occasions I would have gotten an overdraft fee not knowing that I was near empty in funds and they just refuse the transaction if you use a debit card. This has probably happened 3 times in the last year. Not a complaint about them! Any retard knows banks are evil.

The banks are no longer allowed to let you use debit card to overdraw unless you opt in.

people wise up banks are just legalized criminals. first they steered you towards checks then credit cards then atm now the fees will start. hell the feds and big business are helping them. how many of you have been forced to use direct deposit? can't cash an out of town check. have to use the atm. they damm near pushed this country into default. every one has an atm. just wait. they will soon own your as*. brings back memories of the company store. my old dad used to say just wait the rich peopleare going to teach us alesson, and they have.

Ok now here's a logical question.@Bob At what point in your story did it pop into your head that another way to avoid overdraft fee's is a little thing banks like to call personal responsibility? If that's not something you're aware of I'll break it down as follows. You put x amount of money into your account. Therefore you can only spend x amount of money to avoid fee's, whether it be by debit, credit, or writing a check. If you spend more then x that falls on the customer for not keeping track of their spending. It really is just simple math. The reason they put in place what you described is people simply do not pay attention to their spending. In other words they lack personal responsibility. In fact you just admitted to being part of the problem that runs rampart in today's society. Banks tell you exactly what they can and cannot do from the day you open your account. In a little document called your depositors agreement. Ever heard of it? You should know what it is because you sign a form the second you open the account that states "I have read, understand, and agree to the terms and conditions of the depositors agreement. ect ect. Point being is you sign your signature card and its all there in black and white that if you don't take the time to read before you sign it really is your fault. If you don't believe me go ask your bank. They will be more than happy to pass the documents to you and even explain the parts you don't understand if needed. As for myself in 31 years with one valley then BB&T i've had 0 (Zero) Overdraft fee's because I did this amazing thing called.... wait for it...... WRITING IT DOWN. Try it sometime it works wonders. Sorry it just annoys me when people admit to not paying attention to what they do and complain that there are consequences to their actions.

x marks the spot. bankers count on you not keeping track of your money. more money for them. just wait until the fees start for you using your money. keep you money in a jar or can and bury it in the back yard. The ugly truth is always better than the best-dressed lie.

To Psycho - I think you should be reminded that there was another man in the not so distant past who claimed to have the "final solution". He was responsible for the murder of 6,000,000 innocent people. Quit saying that for heaven's sake.

Serious question:

We have a secured personal loan at this bank, original loan amount was around $29,000.00, and the monthly payment is near $800 a month. In the original agreement it states that after the 10 grace period that there will be a late fee of 5% of the late amount owed or $15, whichever is less. Even at the 5% thats less than $40 for the late charge so why have we been charged $150 for the late fee? Am I missing something? Could this be a typo? Even the payment coupons only show a $15 increase after the 10 day grace period. Any suggestions would be greatly aprreciated.

Probably a typo. Its illegal for an FDIC-insured bank to charge a $150 late fee on any transaction. If there are exceptions, they will be in your loan agreement, but hopefully you've read those. Thanks to Elizabeth Warren (and Obama), all financial institutions must now be more open and disclose all crazy fees. Its called predatory lending, and it's the practice that collapsed the housing market by giving loans that people couldn't repay. The banks are making up this lost income through easy overdrafts and consequential fees that go as high as $50 per transaction. Look for Warren to address those if she wins her race for congress
