This entire thread totally epitomizes why not one single company would ever invest new money in our Ravenswood workfArce. Ungrateful, illiterate idiots with no skills or education working for a company in the red and they bitch about bonuses. Wow.

Nobody will get the signing bonus until payroll is turned in next week. The company will have to evaluate who is coming back and who is not. Have talked to a few that don't intend to return to the plant and I would suspect that they would not be getting a ratification bonus. This is craziness, in my opinion. Why not work the extra week, take the bonus money and then get the hell out of Dodge?

I can assure you no amount of education would ever prepare you for the type of work that is required inside a facility such as this. These things are not taught inside a classroom. They are learned through on-the-job training, experience, and a lot of trial and error. We do the best we can, considering our limited potential. Would love to work with you for a week, as you seem like a total dumbass.

I didn't say working in a factory requires higher education. I'm saying that because the overwhelming majority of union members are uneducated and unskilled labor, your options are limited to only working there. So it's difficult for those of us who worked to gain skills and credentials to listen to you bitch about a job when your only alternative is in the food service industry or in the custodial arts.

What exactly are the kind of skills you possess, Bacon? Can you operate my equipment better than I can? The answer is no. Can I do your job better than you can? The answer is no. Everything depends on the quality of education that our parents were able to give us. Some could do it, some could not.

I'm just saying most labor positions at factories do not require critical thinking, communication skills, complex problem solving or adaptation to varied environments. These are skills that require years of study, experience and talent. People with these traits are usually compensated very well, and they can choose when and where they work. Union members at Constellium are compensated at comparable levels to these people, although most don't possess these traits. So hearing a Constellium employee complain about their job or compensation sounds ridiculous to people who have put in the work, study and financial resources needed to gain those professional traits.

In a competitive economy with high unemployment, the uneducated and unskilled laborers are the first to be replaced. Once replaced, employment options are nearly non-existent. That's why you had no community support in your idiotic strike. We were all thinking, "are these guys so dumb that they don't realize this is the only job they could ever get?" Then you add in the reason for the strike ("we want free healthcare"), and we went from non-supportive to downright mad. If you had all lost your jobs, it wouldn't have been a tragedy. It would have been a necessary economic correction.

It's also upsetting that the union can't grasp the economic damage they do with every one of these idiotic strikes. Do you really think that Jackson County isn't deserving of a new industry? We have the infrastrstructure. Yet there hasn't been any since '91. There has been development in all surrounding counties - Roane, Mason, Kanawha and especially Putnam. I assure you Jackson County was considered for all that development. But we are never chosen because no businessman would invest in our workforce. Ever.

Its as if you guys think you're in a bubble and don't think anybody is watching. Everybody's watching. But the community must pay the price. The damage 5668 has done to Jackson County far outweighs any benefit they have created.

All Salary workers got a bonus before the strike. Klye got over 100K and has only been their 15 months. More salary bonuses are on the way. Didn't you know Bacon all companies now a days show they are in the red but still have money to pay a bonus. Could it be that companies fudge their books.....

You think if one did not go to College then they don't matter is that correct. They don't deserve anything. They are all just scum below your feet. You hate the law, unions, people that do not have a college education. You seem to hate everyone and everything. You seem so much better than everyone else. Lets meet somewhere in Ravenswood and talk face to face. I can be there in an hour!

bacon hater does go off the stupid chain frequently, however i think i know what he is trying to say...let me try and say it my way. first, why would anyone think bonus pay would not be taxed?? it is!! the hourly pay for the workers at constillium is excellent along with the benefits and other perks for the education level, amount of training and skill level of the majority of its hourly employees.these people for the most part are acting very stupid, ungreatful, and down right greedy!!! here we are in jackson county usa, many of these workers have never lived anywhere else in the world and have no clue!!! they are making wages comparable to people who have been on a job for years, people who have college degree's, and people who work twice the hours for the same pay. it is an excellent job for uneducated unskilled workers who can easily make this wage by hiring in and getting training on the job. how long did it take for the salary workers to learn to run the plant??? this should say it all right here. not only are they lucky to have been hired, lucky to make the higher wage for this area, they also were offered a very fair insurance package and still are complaining. not even going there on the bonus. i dont know any other company who offers a bonus at every contract change!!! usually it is for new hires only and never is it 7,000.00. so know what, im so over this as im sure everyone else is too...!!! you guys have it made!! its a damn shame you are so clueless and ungreatful!!! if you arent happy and you think(LOL!!) you can do so much better, step aside and let someone else have a chance!!!!

Wow. Thanks. So much more clear and concise than my post... I don't hate unions. I am aggravated with 5668 because they are oblivious to both the current state of the economy and employment as well as their own situation. Its clear that members don't grasp the economic damage they do locally.

I don't anyone without an education. I hate people who have no education and then wonder why they have a shitty job, like most 5668 members.

I do hate pigs though.

None of you seem to be able to see past the production crew. There are many members of the union that do have college educations. Millwrights, Electricians, Mechanincs, Engineers, etc. They are not jobs just anyone can do. To apply you must have experience, education, and be able to pass several skills tests. With that being said why is it so many of you point out that anyone could take their jobs? Yes you could go to the production line, but that is it. It takes so much more than just production to run the plant.

dammit!!! all was good until you started the hate pigs thing again. what does that have to do with anything!!!!!!!!!! take my advice, go somewhere and sit alone quietly. rethink the reasons you hate pigs. try and analize each and every what if and if it and try and picture it in a different way. open your heart and your mind, forgive but do not forget!!! and please no more stereotyping!!! you say you are well educated? act like it!!! direct your strengths in another direction and leave the past at your feet!!!
