These Metro Park officials have slowly turned into little hitler Nazi's. I have no idea who the Model airplane club is but I have seen the little planes flying there several times when I have visited the Fairgrounds. This is the perfect reason I would never support one of their levies. They are like the Gestapo

Model airplanes flying over MetroParks land must be an extremely important issue ... with the MetroParks, that is. They brought in both big guns of the MetroParks to talk to the Summit County Council on Monday. Ms Curtis said "planes are incompatible with the park district and will pose a safety risk for visitors". That is all that was reported in the newspaper article. I think that there should be a more precise explanation by MetroParks people about incompatibility and safety. How about it Ms Curtis and Mr Shy?

What a shame. Several years ago, when my husband was a scoutmaster, he took his troop to watch the guys fly their planes. We also took our sons when they were young to watch.

Another case of bureaucracy becoming politically incorrect under the guise of citizen protection. Ms. Curtis needs to find another hobby. Maybe she work on closing the metro park to visitors because someone might trip and fall.

This is comical. It gave me a good laugh. Corsair Model Airplane Club calls their previous home "little Nazi Hitlers" because they can't fly there anymore. It's like telling someone who gave you free money they are a "little Nazi Hitler" because they won't continue to do so. How about a "Thank You" for allowing it up til 2009? It doesn't make sense to have them fly there anyway. The CMAC field manual even states (and I quote), "A model in flight can be a lethal projectile". Additionally, you may argue well it's the pilot not the airplane - not according to CMAC who states, "The skill of the pilot is only one very small component in the entire system." It's quite obvious to anyone with a brain risk is involved with the model airplanes not to mention when they crash the spill fuel and leave metal and plastic at the crash site - contaminating the MetroParks. This is contrary to the stated goal of the MetroParks which is conservation and passive recreation. Key word - passive. Fly your toys in your backyard if you're so worried about it. Hell - "Voice of Reason" - let them fly in YOUR backyard? And when a little kid gets killed the family can sue YOU. Sounds good to me, how about you?

To the semi"Educated Person.

A tree limb is a lethal weapon when it falls so what's your point, not to walk in the woods?

I might also point out that MetroParks had nothing to do with the model airplane club flying at the fairgrounds. The only thing they can thank MetroParks for is kicking them out.

Get your fact straight or stay home.

So ..... If the Metroparks gives the ok for the planes to fly and one of them runs into someone sitting in a chair watching them fly, WHO do you think that person is going to sue. Not in complance with the right to fly on pubic land. There are plenty of fields out there that are not public land, ask a farmer to use their land. Then the farmer is lible for any troubles or damage not the Metroparks ...... Get it .....
