I first went to Alessi's when they first opened about a year ago. Food was below average and service was sub par, but I gave them extra leeway since they had just opened. However, my visit on 1/22/2008 was perhaps the worst restaurant experience I've ever had. When first walking in the staff members were huddled around the waiter (captain) podium. With a look for near disgust we were seated. While the server was nice, she was not the type of person I would want representing my establishment. First comes the "appetizer" Italian wedding soup with Parmesan cheese DUMPED in the center of the bowl, and I don't mean the freshly grated kind, or the kind grated a while ago, we're talking Kraft from a bottle POWDER Parmesan cheese. They didn't ask if we wanted our soup in this manner they just brought it like this. DISGUSTING. Bread and Oil, same thing, waitress simply dumped a bunch of powder parmesan cheese in our oil with some pepper. YUCK. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE parmesan cheese, freshly grated of course, certainly what I should expected from $15-$20/plate restaurant. On to the main dish, I ordered the Steak Stefan, my date Chicken Alla Roma. The steak, I asked for Rare, it came medium. Instead of being soft and easily cut like this type of Steak Medallion should be, there was a giant tendon running down the center of each medallion rendering it extremely chewy, hard to cut, and rather unpleasant. My dates chicken looked as though it had been hammered instead of properly tenderized, she described it as chewing on a piece of chicken flavored leather. Forcing myself to get something out of this meal I begin to eat the Red Skin Mashed Potato's, they had a strong odd SOUR taste to them. After a few bites and my date taking a few bites, I asked the server if this was normal. She said it was not and said she would ask the chef/owner/cook what the deal was. She came back with an excuse that the garlic had been "burnt, that's what gave it the sour taste. If you know anything about cooking, burnt garlic will give you a bitter and slightly sweet flavor instead of sour. It's obvious the milk or the Potatoes used had gone bad. Our bill was slightly over $40 (they even charged extra for the Bleu Cheese on my salad) thus $48 after tip.(We care not about the dollar amount, but do expect a certain standard of service and food to accompany it - we frequent the Leopard in Aurora if that is any indication) I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS RESTUARANT TO ANYONE - NOR WOULD I WISH A VISIT TO THIS PLACE ON MY WORST ENEMY. Save yourself, stay AWAY from Alessi's in Ravenna.

WOW David I you must have had a bad meal. I have been reading about it all over the internet. I am so sorry about that and I am greatful for the review.Anyone who knows Candy and I knows we would have taken care of you. I am not sure what happened but, I intend to look into it, I wish I could make it up to you But, it is obvious you won't be coming back to my restaurant again. Again WE are sorry for your bad experiance. But I feel the need to correct you with respect to the cheese,we do not use parmesan cheese we use fresh grated Romano cheese always have, Always Will!

I want to thank Candy, Anthony and the Alessi's staff for throwing a wonderful holiday party for our business. We received nothing but praise from all of our employees and guests. The service, atmosphere, and food were all perfect! The roast was a particular favorite! We couldn't have asked for a better evening. Happy Holidays to all of you!

Tony, thank you for teaching me how to make the most kickin ribs Jersey has ever seen!
Candy, your potato salad recipie is my famlies favorite BBQ food.
In short, thank you both for giving this chef her start.
