My husband and our friends ate at the Fairfield Diner several weeks ago. We all were disappointed in the food. Because the owners of the Southern Inn had taken it over we expected much better. My husband and I had spaghetti and it was bland. He had a saussage with his and it was dry and over cooked. One of our friends had roast beef sandwich and it was very greasy. We all decided that we would never eat there again.

I am a regular at the Southern Inn. Several friends and I ate at the Fairfield Diner before Christmas and we all thought it was very good. I had the fried chicken, one friend had a meal sized salad and another had a steak. The service was good, Randy came around to visit and welcome us. This is not the Southern Inn but neither are the prices. I will eat there again and wish them the success.

I stopped by the Fairfield Diner over the weekend. I wasn't impressed. I ordered a medium-well burger, which they then way over-cooked. Also, the waitress I had needed a serious attitude adjustment. This restaurant used to be one of my favorite travel stops, but with former owners Anthony and Wendy no longer there something just seems to be missing. I see no point in stopping there again.

I stopped in to the Fairfield Diner not knowing it wasn't still the Whistle Stop Cafe. I was glad to see the fried green tomatoes still on the menu. They were delicious. I liked the sauce better. The spinach salad was excellent. The dressing was very good. I wasn't impressed with the sandwich...it was basic and plain. I will return and try other items and keep ordering the fried green tomatoes and the spinach salad.
Thanks for the nice place to stop when driving up and down I-81.

I ate there recently and it was the best food I have eaten on the road, for quite some time.

We found the Fairfield Diner on our way from Asheville, NC to Maryland. It is a really welcome stop off of Rt. 81 and a great alternative to the usual greasy fast food choices. The diner is easy to find off the exit and worth the extra quarter mile around the corner!
The crab bisque was excellent and the sandwiches we had were delicious! The service was friendly and prompt. And it's smoke free!! We will definitely visit this restaurant any time we are traveling on Rt. 81.

We ate at the Fairfield Diner Friday 8-8-08. We each had the the large burger on the menu and it was excellent. It had a great grilled flavor, cooked medium-rare with cheese and grilled onions. The fries were hot and crispy.
There are nice views from the porch or the inside. Everything I saw other folks eating looked good. I recommend the food and the service
