Texas can't secede from Union.
When Texas was re-admitted after Reconstruction in 1876, the Texas Constitution had to include an amendment that any future secession attempts would be unconstitutional. Texas can ask for independence from the USA from Congress, and if granted, can leave, but upon re-admission, has to break up into 7 smaller indicvidual states.

Texas v. White, 74 U.S. 700 (1869) was argued before the United States Supreme Court in 1869. The Court held in a 5–3 decision that Texas had remained a state of the United States ever since it first joined the Union, despite its joining the Confederate States of America and its being under military rule at the time of the decision in the case. It further held that the Constitution did not permit states to secede from the United States, and that the ordinances of secession, and all the acts of the legislatures within seceding states intended to give effect to such ordinances, were "absolutely null."

In other words, any previous pacts, agreements or such have no standing.

so what. if timothy gaithner can not pay taxes and then be placed into a leadership position after he has shown no integrity and no honesty, then texas and anyone else can secede due to setting presidences. it would be so easy to make so many claims for reasons to secede. the govt cannot even manage the money we give them and then they want more of our money. we need to do whatever it takes to secede from the us.

Any state can secede. Whether they get away with it is another matter. During the Civil War, the southern states seceded. They didn't "get away with it" because they lost the war. Had the south won the war, their secession would have had legal standing. Winners of wars get to make the rules.

Gentlemen-
The nation of Texas has never ceased or will ever cease to exist as long as her sons still dare to mention her noble name and demand the decency of other right thinking nations toward her virtue. I am a Seventh Son of Texas, and would shed every drop of my blood to preserve her, to advance her, to sustain her and to bring her into the proper light of recognition among sister Sovereigns.
Let no man think that her defence is unaided by her native sons both high and low, and that she does not bear them as the true progeny of Aristotle where our present Custodian has failed so miserably. Let no man speak that cannot set his foot upon our sacred soil and make his odious claims and be accountable. And let no man languish in the falsehood that the Texan woods, mountains, desarts [classical spelling!!], mighty cities, waste lands, forests and sprawling plains do not wait in perfect silence, populated by the Sons of Texas to defend or adorn her Precincts, from any foe who might offend or any friend who might extend the hand of amity or evil entity who might project the dagger of tyranny.
If any fool should wish to tangle with Texas, let him do so and be done with, or claim that Texans care for their 'wealth' and might capitulate, and remember Crockett, or fear a mightier foe, and remember the fallen and disgraced Empiror Santa Anna et al, or that a true Texan finds a meal of Black Eyed Peas and cornbread to be a Feast, if prayed over to Almighty God.
Remember, mockers, that we have not ceased, nor will we cease, and that the hour will presently be upon the stage. Choose your part, fool or friend!

I became very impressed with Texans when I visited the Civil War battlefield in Franklin, Tennessee (The Battle of Franklin). The tour guide told us that a large contingent of Texans lost their lives in the battle. The officer in charge declined the offer of local officials to bury the Texans who had fallen. Instead he telegraphed a message back to Texas, describing what had happened, and a couple of days later a train arrived and carried all the dead soldiers back home to Texas and their families. Like I say, that impressed me.

All this because we have a "black president".

This country will never get better till racist, bigots like some of you people die.

Bush did more harm to this country and its standing in the world than Obama could do in a life time.

I guess some things never freaking change.

It doesn't matter what color a President is. It is his values. Obama is a socialist. Bush protected this country for years and who cares what the world thinks about us.

Socialist huh, because he wants to raise the ultra rich's taxes from 36 to 39 percent. Amazing,I would guess that you aren't part of that bunch and would actually benefit from his tax plans. But of course being the sheep that republicans are you can't think for yourself.

If you haven't noticed this country quit being a democracy about 40 yrs ago. Besides, where do you think Social Security came from? Police Department, librarys, medicare,f ire departments and things of this nature came from huh?

They all have "so-called" socialist beginnings.

This country was never a democracy - it has always been a representative republic.
Glorious Leader is not a socialist - he is a facist following the word/works of Alinsky and other facists.
Most libraries came from a capitalist - or haven't you noticed the Carnagie name on a vast majority of our country's libaries?
Fire departments and police departments are local and came from English examples.
Medicare and SS are ripoffs forced on us by a corrupt federal government
Might want to get your head out of the DNC's collective buttocks and learn a little about this country.

Texas' right to secede is in our Treaty joining the United States. Again, check the Constitution and you will find Treaties outweigh the SC.

He's socialist because he wants to take people's hard earned money and give it to lazy people. Would you like your hard earned money to be taken to be given to lazy people?
The Library and Fire Department are nothing compared to core socialism. The community decided. It wasn't forced on them.
