rankin is a small town but anyone can have tons of fun if you look for it. not the bad kind, the good kind. if you've never been there or mccamey, make sure you do because you'll never see places like that ever again.

That is very true. I mis Big Lake and all the surrounding area. Just going thru the paper and seeing the ads for the "town suppers" make me teary eyed. I tell people up here that when towns like these have "town suppers" the ENTIRE town literally sits down to eat together. Awesome!! It's that kind of "community" that is missing across our nation.

Spent some time in Rankin a while back. There were two school teachers there that I have never forgotten. Mrs. Hurn and Mrs. Bloodworth. I am sure they are no longer around, but they were great teachers. There was a Red Devil Inn where we would go for hamburgers at lunch. There was a auto dealership (Hogan Motors I believe). Halliburton and Western were big operators in town. A community center on top of a hill that had dances after football games. Lots of kids rode motor scooters to school. There was a dance hall west of town (Muletrain?). It was a great little town and I am sure it is still a great little town. Someone bring me up to date.
