don't forget about the clerk that got fired for telling Lamar about one of the judges taking the cash money. we might be the only town that let's people get away with this. how can we hold onto our own money? problem solved. clean house and start all over. make them go through random lie detector test just like a drug test. sounds good to me

Yep, the person who leaked the info paid a price, the judge was re-elected and life, as usual, went on.

We did elect a New Sheriff, and Tax Commissioner, but The Commissioner got away. Nevertheless, as they say given time, your sins will find you.

So we did get a start on the cleaning of the house in 2012, it just takes time to get em all.

Understand, the D A is up for re-election next. I won’t forget how he had to be pushed, dragging his feet the whole way, to the grand jury for an indictment in the Tax Office embezzlement case.

DA needs to make a decision who he serves pretty quick. The people, or the powers that be. It is supposed to be the people.

In my opinion if he doesn't choose the people he will be looking for a job next year. He isn't much of a lawyer or he would be in private practice.

I'd like to see King Lamer take a lie detector test. The damn machine would probably blow up!

According to a story in The Spokesman-Review out of Spokane, Washington, a recently retired Chief Deputy Clerk in the Kootenai County Clerk’s Auditor office has been accused of embezzling a “sizable” amount of money.(Addendum 12-29-2010 at 06:18: From today’s Coeur d’Alene Press — Kootenai County funds stolen.)

Here are some questions for which county taxpayers ought to be demanding answers from Kootenai County Clerk Dan English: Exactly when and by whom was the alleged embezzlement detected? Who conducted independent audits (if there were any) of the County’s financial records? Were audits done by an internal auditor or a contractor*? When were the audits done? Why wasn’t the alleged embezzlement detected before now?

Don't you think Union County taxpayers should be asking lots of questions about the money taken from the Golf Course.

Sonny and I met with Jeff Langley on March 1, 2013. We went in to question him about the missing Grand Jury Reports and Lamar giving a 2011 Budget report to the Grand Jury when he gave me a 2012 Budget report in a ORR. This shows the Grand Jury has no clue what Lamar is reporting but they sign off on it. No accountability for our money.

We also questioned Langley about the missing money from the Golf Course by Judy Spiva.
He said the theft did happen but the administration decided just to let her pay the money back. We asked why he did not prosecute since he did Joy Griggs. He said no one filed a criminal report and there was no arrest. He said he was not going to go back 3,4, or 5 years that the statute had run out.

In our investigation we have found out this happened in 2009. The statute is 4 years.

We have also heard that Judys mother was taking care of Lamars sister.

Did this play a roll in Lamar covering up the theft?

Was someone else from Lamars office also involved?

Why did Gunter and Langley let this slip by?

When was the embezzlement detected?

Why wasn't this reported in the county audit?

Today on behalf off Union County Taxpayers,

I did file a criminal report with the sheriffs office. What they do from this point on will be interesting. Why should the county prosecute one person and not the other when they committed the exact crime. Why do some people in this community get a free ride?

It is time for all citizens of Union County to stand up and make this county accountable for our money. Lamar, Gunter and Langley have forgot who they work for. Time to let them know.

If Langley doesn't do anything about it he is real deep do do. What is funny is that all this is going to someday lead back to a couple of AH's that think they are above the law.

Recent Increases in Workplace Fraud:

There has been a 17% increase in major embezzlement cases from 2009 to 2010.9 According to the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, the average workplace fraud costs employers $160,000.10 In tough economic times and a poor job market, the temptation to steal from an employer can be heightened. Additionally, some employees who feel that their work is not appreciated or compensated appropriately may feel entitled to steal from an employer, regardless of the state of the economy or the employee’s financial situation.

I think the statute of limitations doesn't start running until a report has been filed. If what Langley told you is true, no report was ever made, so the statute of limitations never started running until you made your report.

This is happening every where but guess what they go to jail in other counties. Just think if this county could get a forensic audit. Most information on the county audit says UNAUDITED

Not true. Statute of Limitations run from when the alleged crime was committed.
